    Interesting ignition issue

Well I have an interesting ignition annoyance. Most of the time when I remove my keys from the ignition and then open my door... It beeps at me. This beep is meant to tell you, Hey dumb ass your keys are in the ignition don't lock them in the car. With the car recognizing this it does not allow you to lock your car.

Hence the issue. Not being able to lock my car (automatically) I think I can still do it manually, I haven't really tried. But the reason this become an issue over an annoyance is that I have an alarm system. So when I get out and "lock" my car well sometimes it thinks the keys are in the ignition and will not allow it.

Any suggestions on how to fix this would be great. I haven't searched so If there is a thread on this, sorry ahead of time.

EDIT: and I just realized that I should have posted this in the electronic section Sorry again. (it's been a hard week)

what do you mean you cant lock the doors while the key is in the ignition? is that a feature of your alarm, because ive never heard of that before. all i know of is the anti-lockout feature that comes as part of the driver door from the factory.

and if it thinks your key is still in the ignition, check out the little tab button on the inner edge of the keyhole, it gets pressed by the key but sometimes gets stuck and doesnt pop back out, give it a whack with the side of your fist, or spray lube on it.
