    Classic..

So I just converted to five speed, tried to change out starter because car would not crank over, i know, could be the battery, i tried jumping it, stilll no starter response..
By the way the starter was a slug and all.

So I just bought a remanufactured one and it just sits and clicks
Another great part about it, is smoke coming from an unidentified location.

Closer to selling it then ever before!
    Stupid piece of shit.

If anyone has any answers let me know.
Meh, not feeling the honda game anymore.

Yes, so it is claimed it is at least.

It varies from my starter, I don't think an auto would bolt up to it

        Relocated battery.

keep in mind it was a daily driver before it sharted

did you relocate the battery during the conversion? what did you use to wire it up?

what other wiring changes did you make to the shifter wiring?

Yes, subwoofer wire, it still carries the current to and fro.

I mean the car fucking worked fine, then overnight it turned into a paperweight on wheels.

well im asking because the starter will not get power unless you jump a couple wires on the automatic shifter.

also, the first time i relocated my battery (sub wiring) i dont know if it was a loose or just bad connection, but not enough current was getting to the front of the car to run the starter, and actually sizzled once. i cleaned, sanded, recrimped, and redid everything, and it worked.

Soo, I know my wiring works, my starter too.

It started cranking but since theres no fuel etc in cylinders it wouldn't start.
After it did that it went back to it's pathetic state of pity.

Before i tried to start it I hit unlock on my alarm
I removed my alarm horn, since it was in my cmc's way (clutch master cylinder)
(It worked after I did that, makes no sense to fail now)
As well two wires were connected ...
I reconnected them and still no luck.

So one question: Are those two wires that were wrapped around horn wires related to my car not starting?

Second thing, there was some smoke under the hood, smelled plasticy...
I looked and my clutch line's rubber covering was melting off

Is there some sort of wiring issue through my clutch line?

It's not touching anything it shouldn't.

Stainless steel on the soft line replacement.

No something is shorted out. You've done too much modification to ascertain exactly what but I'd guess you have a shorted starter and thats cooking your clutch line. I dunno. Whatever it is is failing intermittently. And no, the horn wires shouldn't have anything to do with it, unless you messed up the alarm by shorting it.

Back to 5spd conversion though, did you properly deal with the neutral safety switch when you swapped?

Well, i'm not sure what was heating up the clutch line, probably a lack thereof of an appropriate ground wire.

The problem was: The ground wire I was using had picked up no contact...

Grabbed jumper cables, put it on starter, then to a bolt on chassis, and it started right up
