thx guys i appreciate the advise...it was foolish of me to not blueprint my motor before installing...i was gunhoe on puttin sht together...but now imma tear it down and start over but measure sht out first...appreciate it...

but anymore advise is greatly welcomed...and i appreciate the constructive critizism...

Never use just plasti-gage is not perfect. Always measure.
Make sure bearings are in correctly. They usually have little tabs that have to sit a certain way.

They only go in one way, but you can install the rod caps incorrectly. This would cause your crank to not turn and score up your crank.

Plasti-gage isn't accurate, but it will let you know if you're in the ballpark.

you dont even need to take the motor out, just take the crank out and have it mic'd.

clean it, calculate the needed clearance and go from there. there's a thread on bearing clearances.

how does oversize bearing cause the crank to not be able to turn i can understand undersized since the clearances would be to tight thanks guys...

Also dont the rods and pistons have to "face" a certain direction, also they have to be installed together the right way? I know the spec sheet from wiseco or was it crower said that they may be offset or something.

I would suggest taking the block with the main caps to a machine shop, along with he rods so they can measure them and figure out your bearing thickness, and oil clearances, honda sells the different thickness bearings individually, or maybe the machine shop can get em, but I am willing to bet youve purchased a set of "greens" also known as standard thickness, and from my own experience, they wont always work.

My turbo f22a has greens and browns in it, but are not going to be the same as any other f22a. If theyre too tight or too loose youll risk them "spinning" or scoring up the crank, and that will lead to piston srape and rod failure etc. Just a taste of what could go wrong!

they do because of the valve pocket reliefs as for the rods, isnt their an oil squirter hole on one side?

thats one thing i didnt see on my aftermarket rod.

but after researching for two hours and reading about proper measuring, color code for main/rod bearing, block codes, pastigauge, micrometers, installation, and horror stories about not measuring at all(even when installin oem rods)...i am now more informed...

..and i can kinda laugh of my past ignorance...not the ignorance on how to measure things out but the ignorance of myself trying to install pistons/rods/crank/bearings without even picking up a mearsurement tool first...a very expensive mistake...

but anyways...just by reading i see that the "black" rod bearings i bought from honda are more than likely oversize...(i havent measured anything yet since im not home...i just woke up at my boys house after a night of drinking and decided that right now while everyone is asleep, i can get some research done...)

i gots some work to do...and i have some ordering to do...thx guys...but please keep the suggestions coming...cuz by far i am not an overnight expert, im still a noob trying to build a block...

ok so i got to work on Sunday...

first i checked to oil clearance on the Main Journals:

-i pastigauged all the main journals

-a close up pic of main journal #1

-it falls in the 0.0015 range...perfect...and it is the same for the others

                            I'd mic those measurements.

Measure each and every bearing, measure each journal and do the math to find out which colors you need for YOUR desired oil clearance.

Then i checked the Connecting Rod Journals:

-the oil clearance was in the 0.001 range...not good...

-therefore i concluded that i have oversized bearings...

its actually reffered to as undersized bearing not oversized.
