Exactly what is the H23A DOHC VTEC?

Alright, I've spent this entire morning looking for exactly what the JDM H23A DOHC VTEC motor is (out of the JDM 6th Gen Accord Wagon, not to be confused witht the USDM H23A1 out of USDM Preludes)

From what I've read, all it looks like is a stroked H22 with a slightly different hp-torque curve. It possibly uses different cams, IM, or TB. It was also only available with an automatic transmission (and in some cases 4wd).

Some people have discussed building one using the H23A1 head on a F22 block, or something along those lines (this is the part that I've understood/seen very little real info on)

I just want someone to confirm/tell my ass off if this is right/wrong. Either way, thanks in advance.

Its basically what you mentioned. The 6th gen wagons were also AWD with the h23a. People on PP tend to go for this swap or they swap in the Type S motor from what I have seen.

the H23a VTEC comes only in tiptronic form, and its not more powerful or faster than an H22a from the prelude.

its just u get more 'bragging' rights here.

        and the blue VC.

but the engine is a bit more tractable compared with the H22a. not peaky. pulls from low speeds better IMHO and experience

Alright, then I guess you gotta pay to play . Anyway, does anyone know what I was talking about when I mentioned a frankenstien motor that is essentially the same as the 6th gen one we are discussing? And possible cost differences between the frank and the actual motor?

So you cannot get a manual h23 tranny? I really wanted to get an h23 and rebuild it and put an h23 tranny on it cause its supposedly better than the f22 tranny that I have

H/F trans will fit on the h23a....Its just like an h22a in some ways just slightly different.

slick hes talking about the newer h23 thats vtec not the older h23 that came out of the bb4 preludes but either way an h23 trans would work cause f and h series are all interchangeable except for the triptronic ones because they wont mate with our axles.

thats what I want is a newer vtec h23. I was asking if there is a h23 tranny that is manual? He said they were all autos and I don't want an auto. I don't want the h22 trans cuz the gears are alot shorter than the trans I have now. I heard the h23 tranny was better

like DA92CB7 said, this thread is about the newer VTEC H23. not the older non-vtec H23 from the BB4 preludes, the h23's that everybody already has. yes there are plenty of those 5spd h23 trannies around... the VTEC H23 only came with an automatic
