our time has come: ESPnet weld-free 5spd conversion!
Ok I have read this read when it was first posted and again now, so let me repeat this in my own words to see if I understand.
I have a H22 auto swap, so If I wanted to convert to manual AND use the ESP mounts, then I have to:
1. Use a H22 manual trans.
or
2. Use a manual trans from a 5gen Accord or Prelude
or
3. Use the H23 manual trans.
that looks right to me.
if you just went back, read what was posted, you would have corrected yourself.
I think what they mean is if your car is already a 5spd then no special mounts are needed. However, if your car was an automatic like mine and I wanted to convert to a 5spd(which I am pondering over now) then you would need the ESP kit. Someone correct me if incorrect.
this ESP 'conversion' mount is for people with an automatic chassis wanting to install a 5spd tranny. any 5th gen accord or prelude transmission will work straight bolt-in with this ESP mount. some cb7 trannies need to be drilled/tapped to work, and some cb7 ones dont have matching holes whatsoever... but still, it gives you a lot of choices, it avoids any cutting and welding, plus its a solid urethane mount, and comes offered with the two other matching ones for an affordable price
if your car was originally 5spd, you can use a regular stock cb7 tranny mount. direct bolt-in with a cb7 transmission, obviously. prelude and newer accord trannies used a different mount stud arrangement, but they all have the provisions to drill/tap/bolt a cb7 mount to.
to an above post, im not currently running the ESP mounts, as my engine bay isnt automatic. i installed this mount on a friends car, and hes still running it without problems. maybe he will chime in with his impression of it, but i was impressed with its build.
ok, so I am doing an auto to manual tranny swap and don't have enough time to get the ESP mounts. Besides that the tranny is a H2A5 so the mount wont fit anyways. So we will have to do a hack 'n weld for the tranny to mount up correctly.
Later on like in a couple of months we are gonna do a H22 swap with a 5 speed of course. The ESP kit I would use is just the normal one that you would install a 5 speed H22 into a 5 speed car right?
