    ready for h22

After a year of saving up I finally have enough money to do the h22 swap in my 91 accord coupe. my car is already a five speed and i am ready for the motor swap. I just don't know of any shops around here in oklahoma city that are reputible in doing the swap. I found one once called alternative motorsports but i lost the number to them. And also should i order the motor and everything and have it shipped to the shop or should i let the shop order everything and pay the one fee to them instead of just the $650 for instalation i was quoted when i called about 6 months ago.

seruiously dood, do it yourself! it'll take waaay longer, and be pretty hard to do if you dont know exactly what your doing, but i learned SOOO much about my car and how everything works when i swapped my H22 myself... plus thats an extra 650$ for mods

i was driving along today and the check engine light came on.
i pulled over and looked under the hood.

I don't have time or the knowhow to do it myself. I can work on my car like i changed the radiator, thermostat, cv axles, change oil and coolant, and air filter. My dad knows every little bit about muscle cars but he doesn't have time to help me either nor do i have the right tools like a lift so i am going to pay the money but thanks alot though.

^ then u know darn well enough to swap a motor, trust me. its really up to you if you want to do it or not, but besides a hundred or 2 in extra tools and parts, and however much to rent an engine hoist, ur gonna save quite a bit, and youre gonna learn a ton. just letting u know

Get a helms and do the shit yourself that way when you do other shit and you blow the motor you can do the mechanical stuff yourself it takes 6 hours to do with an hour break with no help just thought.

h22 sparkle i have 3 same motor swaps under my belt...a 90 civic, 91 corolla, and a 90 full size chevy pick up. all of which took me longer than 6 hours total time invested. for a professional mechanic in a shop with all the tools necesary and a lift it would take six hours and thats cutting if close. but for a novice such as myself without a lift but all the other proper tools i had 6 just in taking the motor and tranny out of my cb7 and to drop the h22 in it will be about the same. maybe longer for wiring n spare part runs.just my opinion.

I really would like to do it all myself but i found a shop in okc that gets their motors from hmotorsonline and they will order it and i drop my car off and pick it up with the new motor 3 days later. My grandparents are giving me 1500 to do the swap and they want it professionally done and done right. The shop warranties their work for 12 months and is owned by a honda licensed master mechanic of 12 years. they want $3000 plus wiring for everything including installation.

If i were u id get a helms and remove the shit yourself if you have a backyard or a nice spot to do this. Then use the rest of that 1500 in repair or upgraded performance parts for the h22. Save your money bro have that motor shipped to your door break out the helms and get busy listen to me please we are only tryin to help you out its for your own good.

professional mechanics pffff. The information is readily available not only on this board but MANY others. U've got other board members in your area volunteering. I'd say drop the car off somewhere away from your house and u and the other member do it urself. Just because a mechanic has a license doesn't mean he'll know the little things about the motor that the members on this board will. Has the shop done this same swap before? Do they warranty the ENTIRE engine package including accesories and tps sensors that are commonly broken? You've saved up for over a year now so just take some more time and don't rush a thing. Read up about it, u don't have to take your grandparents money either if u don't want to. Good luck man

On top of that a mechanic will probably call in another kid to do your swap and the mechanic will hand you back your keys like he did the shit himself. So do it yourself thats how you learn if you can do this yourself youll have 1,300 to block on more upgrades to drive with your car on hmmm perhaps a quaife would suffice.

Yup. Unless the place has done the swap before and has a great warranty.. its better to do it yourself.

                          What shop?

I can assure you that if you do it yourself, maybe with some help, it will teach you things you wont know if you take it to a shop.

before i did my swap, only thing i had done was swap my front springs, which took like a week in itself, and i did it with only a haynes. i had never changed my oil, never done any maintenance work... and i was able to do a whole H22 swap in my garage in a total of a week. honestly, if you know how to use a ratchet to take out bolts, and u know how to pull a hose, you know how to do a swap, a basic ratchet set and other tools u can buy anywhere are all u need.

i had a full step-by-step guide to pulling the F22 (something most people wont take the time to write), then u go thru it backwards to reinstall the h22.

                            http://mike.adminity.net/f22_removal.mht

its really a straightforward thing to do, and any questions, people on the site will know.
