Wiring for H22, need to be sure.

From the Swap Sticky, i was reading the how-to for the h22 swap. And i'm just not sure on how to wire it up?

    "Pin locations for OBD-1 ECU’s:
    - Vtec solenoid: Pin A4
    - Vtec pressure switch: Pin D6
    - Knock sensor: Pin D3
    - Secondary Intake Solenoid: Pin A17 (Connect Black/Yellow wire on solenoid to switched ignition, the other to pin A17)
    - FPR Solenoid: Pin A10 (Connect Black/Yellow on solenoid to switched ignition, the other to pin A10."

Im confused mostly on the switched ignition wire. Who used what wire and where for ease of splicing? And also the diagram showing the shock mount connector? Which one? Do i necessarily need to connect to this shock mount connection or can i connect directly to the ECU plugs? As i said, just want to make sure on this because my engine might be coming in tonight and the swap will be in process tommorrow. Just in a crazed rush. First swap and all so im sure im going to be running into mass confusion. I'd rather avoid that...

    Wish me luck... heh.

you can forget the FPR solenoid, you can remove the solenoid and bypass it with a piece of vacuum line. also, forget about wiring the secondary intake solenoid (IAB) too, you have a 92 EX which came stock with IAB's, so thats prewired into your harness.

as for the other three wires, yes, you can run them directly from the sensor itself to the ECU... when they refer to a shock tower connector, thats an extra connector that they added. if you wired straight from the sensors to the ECU, yuoll need to cut the wires if you ever need to pull the motor back out... if you find a 3 or 4 pin connector (i cut one from a junkyard) you can put it on the shock tower and wire the sensors through that. optional though.

    .... DONT RUSH.

thats the one thing i cant stress enough, DONT RUSH THE SWAP. do it at the rate that you feel comfortable, and itll turn out well. if you rush, things are overlooked and things go wrong.

in the swaps thread index sticky, theres a "f22 removal guide" thread, use that to remove the stock motor, do whatever you need to do to prepare the h22, then use the guide backwards to reinstall the H22.

you can even leave the wiring till last, the motor will run without them hooked up. itll give you CEL's, but itll work...

nice mike, but for those that don't have an EX where is a good spot to tap the switched ignition for the IAB solenoid?

the distributor has switched ignition wires... i believe its a black wire with yellow stripe? of course use a multimeter and test the wires until you find the right one before hooking it up. its been a while since ive done an h22 into an LX (recently been mostly EX's) so i dont remember the wire color off the top of my head.

yes black/yellow is the right color. LX's are just a tad harder to wire due to the lack of IAB wiring and front O2 sensor location.

is your 13-hr swap record on an EX? haha cheater...jk! i'm gonna try and beat your record in my LX, as my first swap too .

correct, and yes, the record was on my EX and actually, i had a pre-fixed harness from my old 93 EX that i used in this new car, so i didnt have to make any wiring changes... that cut back on the time it took

thanks alot for clearing that issue up. surprised to hear that my A6 engine helped with the wiring. flipping sweet!

As for the swap in general, the person who is helping me is a professional mechanic, so im sure things will go well and fairly quick. most likely 2 days if things go well because he has air tools, but yet we are going to be changing clutch, timing belt, axles and brake rotors.

only problem if i want my car on the road...is that i hope my headers come in soon... only part im waiting for now...ahh!
