Question about Possible Oil Pump Prob.

Ok, i know its a lot of reading but please help me with this.

I have a 92' accord ex w/ a 94' JDM H22A, since the swap about a month ago there has been this annoying whinning noise comming from the belt area. For weeks i have been checking shit out, and i finally think i have figured it out.

My oil pan has a pretty large dent in it (probly dropped it in the shop before i recieved it) and i was wondering that since the oil pickup thingy is right at the bottom of the pan, it being bent could cause less oil flow which maybe could have fried the oil pump, or is frying it, which may be causing the noise. I came up with this conclusion when i noticed the dent the other day, and also i know that vtec runs off oil pressure, and when i start my car it usually takes about 10 mins before vtec starts to kick in, i dont know if thats unusual, but my friend says his works all the time. If anyone agrees or has any other suggestions for me that would be great, Thanx.

The whining could be your timing belt being to tight or maybe even something in the timing belt cover actually rubbing the belt.

Vtec will not work until the vehicle reaches operating temperature UNLESS the vehicle is running a chipped ECU with that option disabled. ALL OE ecu's wait until the engine reaches proper temperature before allowing Vtec to engage.

take the timing covers off and look how hard is that but the pan could smash into the pick-up tube, and if it did you would know it by now just my .o2

Is the timing cover the same as the cam 'gear' on the drivers side? If so then reading pwns you .
What would be the symptoms if the oil pickup was pressed against the pan?
I was supporting the engine, and used a thick board to buffer between the engine and the jack. One end of the board accidentally pressed into the pan, on the drivers end. Its about 4"x2"x1/2" ?
That concerened me, but since the car started and seamed to run fine, i didnt give it another thought really. But on the way to the autox I checked the oil and it was below the botton marking on the dipstick - actually about halfway between the last notch and the bottom of the stick. I poured in 2quarts and the oil level came back up.

Is it possible that I starved the engine of oil? Again, I really appreciate the help!

if you starved the motor of oil it will spin a bearing then would stop breathing soon easy way to tell if the pick-up tube is touching is take the oil pan off and look replace the gasket if it ok if you did smash it get a new pick-up tube there cheap oil pan tweak it back in to shape with a hammer and dolly just be careful to not rip the metal or just buy the moroso 5.5 qt pan and pick-up tube for like 300 good thing to get if boosting this is how i would solve it but that just me and i never let anyone work on my shit if that says anything

Thanks for the input Gen4Acclude! Anyone else know about a whining n the belts/engine area?

I would not mind having the Moroso kit, I'm not able to afford it right now though. So I'm going to take the oil pan off, check the pickup, and then replace the pan and gasket.

I hope this works; school started today and I need the Accord. Plus I love her.

its possible that the tensioner pulleys might whine...

How might I check that to determine it is is loose CPMIKE? If I determine it is loose, how can I tighten it? Thank you for your comment

wow i started this thread long ago, and still no legitimate answer. i'll tell you first thing, its not the oil pan, i took mine off and beat the dent out, put it back on and nothing changed. i'm more leaning towards the tensioner pulleys, because i didnt do the h23 manual tensioner swap when i did my swap (dont ask me why). hope you figure this out and get it fixed soon.
