    Auto to Manual Swap Help

I did a search and have done a large amount of reading on this topic. I just wanted to pick you guys' minds.

    1. Do you regret doing the swap
    2. Does it require ANY maintenience?
    3. How much, after everthing was done and said did it cost?
    4. Did you or a shop install it?

If you guys wanna add anything too that would be great. But those were just the 4 I was really looking for answers on.

    Thanks!

          1) Hell no!!! I love it
          2) Not that i've found out yet...
          3) Umm, for motor/tranny/cv shafts/ecu/(clutch master/slave cylinder)/hydraulic line/clutch dampner all said and done, about $2800-$3000.

But that's for food/gas and other last minute things like sockets and brake fluid, for clutch, and shit like hoses that i broke and what not

Btw, I did the swap my self going in BLIND. I did have a friend's dad help me with welding and unstripping things like that. Really straight forward.

            1. Do you regret doing the swap
            - absolutely not... i had to... i had my H22 w/ 5spd tranny and i bought a new auto EX, so it had to be converted before the motor could go in

            2. Does it require ANY maintenience?
            - no. besides watching the clutch fluid, which anybody with a manual car should do

            3. How much, after everthing was done and said did it cost?
            - $250 for the "conversion kit" and i already owned the tranny/clutch/flywheel... then an additional $150 in parts like the new tranny brackets and whatnot

            4. Did you or a shop install it?
            - me. cept the welding, i got everything prepared and my dads friend came and welded and went home.

In my case, would i be able to use the auto tranny mount, drive to a tranny shop, and have them weld in the manual mount for me? The only problem i see myself having is the tranny mount weld.

nope. youll need to find somebody who can bring portable welding equipment out to your house to weld it for you. call around and see if any place would do that and how much they would charge.

i dont regret the swap...only maintenance is checking to see if the parts you bought are working right...i just found out that my clutch release cylinder is leaking fluid and the whole swap ran me about a lil over $1000...i bought the parts over a period of time so it didnt feel like a huge shock

I have a question. The manual swap parts are the same for the 90-97 Accord and the 92-96 Prelude. Only difference is the transmission used??? I have the swap parts off a 90 Accord EX, what cars can I use them on?

Regarding the welding, the transmission is mounted with a tranny mount and bracket. The bracket is welded onto the car's chassis. The AUTO bracket is different from the Manual bracket. The bracket must be welded off the car, and the manual one must be welded one. The tranny mount is then attached to it, which is attached to the tranny.

For the interior, you have to remove your current brake pedal, replace it with the manual version one, and install the clutch pedal. You remove the Auto shifter assembly and the cables. You install the manual shifter assembly and the cables that go through the firewall.

EDIT: I don't know about states like Cali where you have to report when u even do an engine swap, but in NYC the only legal issue would be when you try to sell back the car. People who are smart will run a carfax and will see that it comes up as an Automatic car. That is all.
