I just can't get over these motor mounts...I took one of my favorite S-turns today and with the same unaligned big softy suspension the turn was so much more stable. The tires barely squealed and it was just a lot easier to control. Seriously if you're looking to make your car handle better, you should look into solidifying your mounts.

Filled em...I don't even think they make inserts for anything but the front (I have the front insert though). It's a lot of work, and it vibrates at idle, but it's worth it. My car is completely transformed.
I dunno if it's doable for auto guys though.

McMasters Liquid Urethane 94A... $35 shipped, they give you just enough to do all the mounts.
I read in the Haynes manual that the autos have a hydraulically controlled rear mount...I dunno if I'd mess with that. But I'd imagine doing the two side mounts would be equivalent to getting a really stiff chassis brace.

maybe im just having a mid-day brain fart or something, but i fail to see how solid mounts has anything to do with handling and how well the car sticks to a curve? it helps shifts, sure, since that is what makes the motor move in its bay. but turning?

When your rear motor mount is broken your engine is basically being held in by bungee cords. Any turn you take is gonna involve some rocking and rolling of the engine, and that kind of oscillating load destabilizes the front end and reduces the available grip of the front tires. When everything is all solid and one piece you can point the car better and you have more control over the car. Like I said, my rear mount was completely broken...with it being solid now the whole car just feels more solid.

the rear and front mounts are for forward/backward rocking, the side mounts are what hold the engine in the bay (ever wonder why they never made inserts for the sides, only the front/back?)... and taking turns, the movement is all lateral, meaning the rear mount has nothing to do with it. the rear mount is relatively wimpy anyway.
i guess when you have solid side mounts, the whole engine can be sort of like a strut bar, being a solid connection between the two sides of the bay... but idk how much of a handling improvement youd actually feel... its more in the shifting and launching.

The car rides a lot better too. Bumps I used to be afraid to go over are like nothing now as the front end is all more of a solid piece. I'm almost certain the engine was just kinda bouncing around in the bay, working in tune with the resonance of the suspension over bumps making things a lot worse than they really were.
