    Lower your front end on stock springs+shocks...who's interested?

    I was bored as hell in class today and I designed a piece that would lower the mount for the damper fork in front by up to 2 inches. Combined with a sleeve or something to raise the spring, you could lower the front end on stock springs and shocks without affecting travel. I guess it could come with various height adjustments or just different sizes. I thought of it because the front of my car is higher than the back with my drop springs, and I was thinking of a way to safely lower it...

    So anyways I'm gonna draw up a prototype in CAD and see if my school's machinist can make me two pieces out of steel to lower my front end by 1"...who would be interested in something like this?

      sounds like a good idea but i got suspension on the way, if not i would have been into it i think, sounds a bit fishy but do able

        hmm it's a good thought but it may have some hidden consequences. you'll need to use a really REALLY strong piece of metal to hold the fork. remember it has to hold not only the weight of the car but the load as well (i.e. when cornering).

        get a CAD drawing going. i want to see what inventive minds on here can do.

            The metal I would use would be the steel in our shop. I figure if all the cross sections are thicker than stock, and the piece is a solid, carved piece of steel, there's no reason why it should fail. Remember, the back of the car is basically riding on two semi-thick washers on each side (the shock's interface w/the hub) so if the piece is solid through in some parts and thicker than OEM I don't see the prob. I have all kinds of programs at school to do stress analyses, I think I might.

            As far as keeping the piece from swinging around under load, I figured I'd just weld a rod connecting to a clamp that would hold the piece still with the fork. My only concern with the piece is interference with the brakes and wheels, but I doubt that will be a problem...

                  you mean mount the ends of the damper fork underneath the lower control arm? if you mount it any lower, the center of the damper fork would hit the axle. but post pics anyway, im really curious!
