i got it all hooked up but when im putting it back together the spring is too short and just moves. theres no way to keep the spring tight in the strut. what do i do. i didn't know about the allen key thing thats what was stopping me before. the rental i got from autozone is pretty safe.

Ha wel i can't say i used a Spring compresser to get my springs off they just poped a lil and that was it! yeah i am crazy.... but CP mike said it right you need a allen wench in the top of the strut or shock to loosen the nut with out spining the rod. once the lower spring are on make sure they line up.

if the setup is made to lower the car that far, then the spring being that short is actually normal. once assembled and mounted under the weight of the car, the slack will be gone and itll sit just fine.

I had the same problem using the compressor i got from ebay. the hooks were too fat to fit between the coil rungs - at one point the compression actually pushed it out from the spring and it popped loose. i ended up using only half of the two-prong hooks attached to the spring which felt very dangerous to me, but i managed to get them off without losing an eye...

it just sits there, loose. as long as the upper cap is attached to the main strut shaft, the spring won't have anywhere to go - itll just bounce around, contained in its spot - under the weight of the car, this wont even be noticable.

I had the same thing when installing Tenzo-R springs(2.25) to Tocicko Blues. The rear struts/spring assembly was loose in the top mount when off the car and could possibly pop out if I were to hit a bump. What I found from looking on here was that the Tocicko Blues are not meant for lowering springs they are basically a slightly better than stock strut. It was advised that I purchased KONI STR.T struts which are supposed to be meant for lowering there for having a shorter strut shaft allowing it to compress the spring some when assembled. This didn't bother me being as the Tocicko Blues were shot anyway. If I am wrong about any of this please feel free to correct my post as I do not want to spread possible disinformation.

Since when are these spring compressors dangerous? I've used mine with both a ratchet and an impact gun on close to 10 cars with no problems.
There are no black and white suspension answers!!!!!!!!!!!

They are not dangerous. I was just saying the one I had seemed dangerous, it didn't quite hook as well as the one in the pic here.

OP, got some pics? Did you get it worked out?

my phones not working right now, but say someone cut their springs and no longer had to compress them, they sit in there loose but i guess your supposed to put em on the car and put it into place as i lower the car or jack up the hub so the spring sits in there tight, but wont that spring become loose when i hit a speed bump or sumthin?

the new struts are the same height as the old ones so it being a shorter spring no need for compressing. but i thought it had to be compressed, that only makes sense

You don't really need those for the rears, the front, its a good idea.
                        wat?
