Ok last night me and my friend were messing with the setting for the safc. got the car running better. still need to fine tune it though with the wide band. so we look and theres smoke from the front (turbo area) the manifold was glowing cherry red. it was just a small section. right before it merges to the wastegate flange but that wasnt cherry red. it was just a section of at least 2 inches to 4 to most. it was so hot the return line melted away. is there a reason why it did that? why only that spot and nothing anywhere else? where can i fine a stainless steel return line at?

Please DO NOT Post In The General Section
From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.
The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.
For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.
Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.
Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

sounds like either your timing is way off, or your running lean....
can i ask though, with the abundance of information about boost on this site, why are you using an AFC for tuning? it might be advancing your timing (sorry, it IS advancing your timing), causing excessive heatLast edited by Accord R33; 06-26-2006, 11:02 PM.

this the manifold that im running. right where the wastegate flange is thats where it was cherry red hot. im talking to a friend of mine that knows alot about turbos and tuning. he straigt told me to use the afc and not use a chipped ecu. ive done my research alot on this. on the air/fuel ratio guages its running between lean and stoich. more towards stoich. on the afc its running 14.8%a/f ratio.

If your running turbo rich would be on the safe side. As mentioned stoich WOT is just bad lol bad things WILL happen. You sure your using the AFC right? Best way to use it is on a dyno but that costs money and every setup is diff.
