Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

    R.I.P. f22a4. 1991-2006:-(

So my car is knocking so I said to my self "I'll drive it to that church and set the timing back" Well, before that church there is a hill, as I was going down it she dies....No big deal right? Maybe idling too low or bad fuel filter....So Istart it back up and pull into the church and right before I stop it goes "Clunck" and dies. So I get out and get my tools out of the trunk and set the timing back to stock.....and she wouldn't start....I mean she would, for a split second. So after I killed my battery trying to start it I called my Mommy:-/ to come and help. I showed my friend Jordan who came along and they charged the battery and....it started...Just made a heavy clicking sound like something was getting tossed around. We got her on the highway home and at that point I was told I had grey exhaust pooring out of the back. So I took her easy the way home....then not even a mile from my house it starts sounding like a motorcycle, weird huh? So we come to a hill and I downshift.....It started stalling. We made it up the hill then you hear: Click, click, click...CLUNK. then you saw black smoke trailing out of the back. She died right there with my hands wrapped around her....She shot a rod through the block. The funniest part...I just changed the oil with brand new synthetic not 2 days ago

The point to this thread: on a scale from 1 to 10 how hard would it be to wire up a newer f22a4 with the external coil to my cb7 and how hard is it to drop it in? would I need to change out anything computer wise? Also, what do you think a good used price on one should be with under 100k on it?

sucks man. at least you were there for her when she passed though

if i managed an h22 swap with no prior experience, removing and installing a new F22A4 shouldnt be an issue. check out the F22 Removal Guide in the swaps section of this site, it explains how to pull a motor... follow it in reverse to get the new motor hooked back up, and its as simple as that.

you should be able to find a new F22 for pretty cheap... you should also keep an eye out for an F22A1 or preferably an F22A6... they are almost identical, and none will be really any harder to install than the other... you can find good F22s for less than $300 if you search around. i believe deevergote sold his old F22 for $50, i picked one up as a trade for a set of rear disc brakes, which are worth no more than 200.

good luck with the project, keep us updated with how it goes!

my question is why would you keep driving that car if you knew something was seriously wrong with the motor (i.e. knocking and abnormal noises, smoke pouring out of the exhaust). you probably could have saved yourself from throwing a rod through the block and only have to rebuild the motor instead of buy a new one. but good luck on fixing it.

I would have rather the engine blew out and saved the money rebuilding it to invest in another motor. If something's gonna blow out it's gonna blowout, plus I was wanting an engine with less miles on it and more to it. But I was considering an f22b just for the torque and power ratings. Then I thought of building a hybrid engine right there in the junk yard. Install the dual runner intake out of another accord on a newer accord motor witrh the external coil in the junk yard, Grab another tranny with low miles out of a car with a bad engine and hook it up. There's a 30 day trade warranty on anything this junk yard sells, so you think i should go for it?
