    CB in a CB7

I bought a CB radio today, because it would be useful to me, as I commute 30 miles to work, almost all of them are interstate. With a CB I can get reports on traffic and smokies. I am going to put it in the glovebox, but I will have to cut a hole.

Mainly I was wondering if I could use the factory antenna, or even better, one of those hidden amplified antennas to use it.

But now that I am thinking of it, these antennas were not designed to transmit. COuld I modify it to transmit?

Man, I have a Bearcat scanner that I could've sold you....no joke. That's exactly what you need. It has a flexible antenna that mounts to the inside of the glass with 2 suction cups.

Why do you need to transmit.....

Mmmmm, except that antenna is for a scanner.... not a citizen's band radio. The closest that you're going to get is a stubbie-flexible external CB antenna similar to an S2000 radio antenna. There is no adapter to use an AM/FM Radio antenna for CB, the transmission performance would be poor at best.

Ha, I feel right at home now.... When I lived at home I had a COBRA base station setup with an Echo Mic and an 18-foot antenna on the roof of my house! Ah, those were the days....

Ya, police....local city and sherrifs. Also fire and EMS, weather, aircraft, all kinds of good stuff. The scan feature works great for this. You cannot however hear wireless phones or cell phones.
