    DRL Installation Help ...

Well, i installed my Insight DRL Module today and everything went
smooth except for the output part...

The Insight module is made so that you can have your
low beams at 10% power, acting as Daytime Running Lights.
Now, the cars that came equipted with DRL from the factory such
as the Canadian Models, well they light the Highbeams as DRLs.
That was the effect i was goin for.
I wired everything to the Highbeams section.

So then i finish, put my tools away and close the hood.
Come to find out that my Lowbeams are acting as DRLs.

    WTF!!1!

    How??
I dont understand. Cuz i hooked up everything to the Highbeams section...
Do you guys think i need H4 bulbs?

If so, i dont want to invest on my stock housing.
I would just waste my money on the JDM 1-pieces which come with H4.

did you read any of the threads me and accordztech made? weve talked about this a lot, the way the honda headlights are tied together, low and highbeams share a common positive, its strange... annoying to try to isolate them, the regular method doesnt seem to work (according to ztech)...

it was super easy for me with JDM headlamps, which i always recommend... if you want DRLs easily you might wanna grab a cheap set of 2piece jdm headlamps to get h1/h4 bulbs.

it is but your beam pattern will suck cause the reflector is made only for the 9005 and 9006...h4 is completley differnt...so you wont see shit.

oh and DRLS run at 80% power and not 10 i believe...and if u run the module the way i have it set up i think it will be at 90% power.
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

I did it how you told me. Wiring everything to the Highbeams.
And still, my lowbeams turn on no matter what.

              Look at Mike's post.

and blind people?! you can still produce glare to other cars even in the daylight. please use your discretion. the drl module cuts down the intensity by 10-20% thus reducing dangerous glare. but i understand your point doug.

i believe honda wired their headlights using a ground-switching system. like mike said, the low and highs share a common positive. it's the negative that ables the individual lights to switch on and off. one must be aware of this prior to installation of the module. thanks for teaching that to me mike !

Nah Tim, i believe they share a common Negative.

Honda's DRL are wire through their own circuit, which has a separate ground.
                        Relay and such...

I took it off, i dont like the low beams comming on.

I will wait for the 1-pieces...

                            DRL's are teh win!!1!!!
                            I've always loved them.

Once at work there was this CB7 from Canada.
I think it was an EX (we call them LX's over here).
It had DRL's...from that day on i was like i need to have them.
They are just so different over here, IMO.
                            Cool feature.
Now they are on almost every new car...
