Map Light Mod??

Installed my maplight awhile back but never wired it up. I had the original 2 wire connection but went to the junkyard this morning to grab one with 3 wires. I had and idea about soldering a extra pin to the maplight but not sure if this would work. Asked Cpmike about his maplight mod but I guess he doesn't want to tell me. . Wondering if i added a extra pin to the power would it turn on when my doors open and shut off when they close???? Not an expert on this so any help would be nice.

CPmikes maplight....it seems like there is a extra wire on the maplight. There is that black/white wire that looks like it goes from the first switch to the second then comes back around to the grey connection... on the back of the switches there is a total of three solder joints but only the top 2 are used. looks like he soldered the extra wire to the bottom one.

out of a CD5. Its one like everyone else probably has.

i want to do this mod and make it come on when the doors open and off when they close. so im guessing thats what the third wire is for. im not too sure but i will check back to see if anyone answers cuz i really want to do this mod later

yeah for now, i've just been able to make it work using the switches. I wired the power to the dome light power and ran wires along the sunroof to the maplight. Everything works but nobody's been able to figure out how to wire it to the doors opening and closing. I too have the CD5 maplight, its like they were made for our headliners, the template is molded into it.

cpmike told me how to do the 3 wire mod on the map light.

My cd5 maplight turns on when i open the doors and they are still functional when the door is closed.

its easy but Mike can explain the mod alot easier..

kinda cleared it up this is what I am saying.....



the number three pin is what Iam thinking the wire(yellow one) is to. it runs from one of the buttons to the other one then back to a pin on the connection..

before I go out and buy a soldering gun, I want to know if this theory will work. I am not saying go out and try it, I am just asking your opinions on this.

i got me one of those from an odyssey grey looks great i'll get a pic tomorrow and i follow this link its easy and i have no sunroof.
