    Yeah, I had a guy on 3geez tell me the same thing. My research came up differently, saying circles were best, and a block would be way too harsh (one place recommended a sponge... i might try that). With 3 more coats to go, that won't be an issue... I'll try the directional sanding next time. I'll still do it by hand though... I stripped most of the paint off one side very easily by hand, so a block would do some damage, I would think. Every coat is very strong, but very thin!

        never go in circles. always go in a backa nd forth motion and after you get it good go back the other way kinda making an x that way it's been cover well..

            looks great ...my friend tried this on his mustang and it came out terrible..he ended up doing it primer

                    Looked good until he started to wetsand other than that it was looking good. I guess one thing is to remember is not to rush! or am i wronge?

                        The wetsand was also done after only 2 coats. It wasn't meant to look good, but to smooth it out. There are 4 coats to go after that! I will do it in one direction in the future, though.

                        It's a lot of work, but honestly, not THAT much. A full car would have a few tough spots, as a hood is fairly flat and simple. If I did it again, I'd go a little lighter on the mineral spirits. Not quite 50/50 (though my mixture was probably a little heavy on it anyway)

                            nice mike. looking good, for what it is.

                            the good thing about this process is that you could do it piece by piece... finish up with the hood as you get the hang of it... then you could do a trunk lid... then the roof... then a fender... all the while learning and perfecting the technique and proper formula.

                            what are you going to do for under the hood as well as the door jams? spray paint would probably work out really well.

                                you mentioned you reduced half and half, and i kinda figured as much, it seems you should have more paint applied thicker to start off then slowly reduce the paint more each time, and stay with a 600 grit paper, because in the end you'll use the 1500 or 2000 grit before you buff it and there would be no worry of burning though..

                                take this as you may i have never attempted this...

                                just some common knowledge that should work rather well.
