    That blows.
Does it cost more for them to pump your gas?
I know when it was here it was like $0.10 more.

Yes in NY it does cost a little bit more which is kinda bullshit if you ask me because I have been to gas stations before that are full serve with only one employee working there. So even if it was self serve, the guy still would have to be there anyway. Like I said though, I don't trust people pumping my gas for me. Hell most of the time I don't even trust those "no brand name" gas stations. I have heard of people going to them and their cars ran like shit after a fill most likely because there was some type of cheap additive mixed with the gas.

i remember when he made that! that was adam / rebels old car. originally the tail light was planned to be hinged on the outer edge and swing out, but they ultimately decided on this solution. he used strong magnets to keep the tail stuck to the car when not in use.

I did put an actuator in there right before I started stripping the car down to change the look. It was more of a problem than anything. There wasn't really enough room for the actuator to go completely out and back in without the wiring getting bundled up. I had to cut out quite a bit of metal to rig up that contraption. The actuator was wired up to my 10 way remote, by the way.

cpmike is correct. I had two strong magnets that held the light to the body while I drove. Never had an issue.

i absolutely love that idea. i saw a cd5 once that used the old gas door to flip the left taillight out, but i've never seen one slide out. what is the link to your old members ride thread?

btw, i just paid $2.17 for 89 at a Caseys yesterday!!! Southwest MO ftmfw!

Half of the pictures are probably gone since I haven't been on here in a couple of years.

steelbluesleepR, I'm pretty sure you're talking about a orange 5th gen, correct? That person got the idea from the first CB7 we did with the flip out tail light back in '99 or '00. I'll find a picture of it.

Lee, car is looking good. I wish I was financially more stable when I purchased my IS300 so I could have kept the Accord just for fun. Now the IS300 will be the project car since I have something else to drive in case something is to go wrong. I'm retrofitting LS430 projectors into a new housing now. TSX's were done before, but nothing compares to the LS projector. I'll get on AIM sometime and we'll talk.. if I get around to it.

Here is the orange CD5 you are probably thinking of:

This is the car that started the whole tail light / gas door removal mod back in the 90's sometime. He owned the shop I would work for and eventually did an IS300 headlight conversion to the car and ended up totaling it and just parting it out.

Here is my Accord as we were in progress of doing mine. The holes were drilled already to make it open like a book (like the primer CB7) but the wiring wasn't working out how we originally expected it to.

And lastly, here's my pop-out tail light / gas filler in action.

                          Hope this helps.

No. We sealed them in there. It wasn't the OEM plug that went into the housing. We used our own rubber gromet and drilled it large enough to fit the OEM plug into that, then that went into the hole where the bulb went. I did have problems with water leaking into the trunk though. We didn't seal the left side of the diamond plate catch pan and minimal amounts of water got in somehow.

Eventually I moved the gas filler to a spot in the trunk and welded metal where the track and gas line previously was.
