ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Got a few concerns...

Ok well im workin on my car now just finishing up my diy grill.. i was waiting for the paint to dry so i decided to check a spark plug to see if its still good or if i should consider getting new ones along with new plugs.. i pulled it and this is what it looked like..

This concerns me cuz theres oil all over it. theres also alot of oil around the plug at the bottom of the valve cover. the oil was also on the wire so i think the valvecover is leaking into it somehow... this shouldnt be happening riight? i kno i sound kinda stupid but im just not sure whats wrong and what to do??!!?

oh also.. what motor mount is this? i have to replace it cuz its cracked

(dunno if u can tell by the pics but i used my phone so they kinda suck)

Valve cover spark plug o-rings located above each plug and rocker arm o-rings.

What concerns me more is you have oil on the bottom as well.. Does your car smoke?

The motor mount shown is the transmission side motor mount.

yes. it has been burning oil lately and i cant find the damn culpret.. im thinking its this plus theres a small amount of seapage from the valvecover gasket all around.. but i have been smelling buring oil and there hasnt been smoke ( i thought it was my oil pan gasket again! cuz ive had to change it twice it was leaking on the header. but i put my car up in the air last night and sprayed brake clean all over the back theres not much oil there just a little from a loose oil filter but i tightened that up.. so i think my missing oil is this valve cover issue... when i buy the gasket does it come with these O rings???

When you buy the gasket , you should ask for the o-rings also. Some brands don't come with it. Fix that issue and see what's up. If it's burning oil there is wrong inside the engine. Since you said no smoke so I don't think it's the piston rings.

yea im almost positive its not rings or something internal.. but i will head down to the autoparts store later today and see whats the cost on this valve cover gasket set... so i need 4 o-rings and whats the rocker arms rings for?

Rocker arm rings are for the rocker arms to prevent some oil going into the spark plug lower part. You can just get the upper ones first and see if oil is still getting in it. If it's clean they you're golden.

I had the same thing as you did but mine is a bit worse than yours. It got me worried since the mechanic's always say it's the piston rings. But I doubt it since they wanna make money of my ass. Turned out to be the upper o-rings

                    I went to Honda.

I paid $180 including labor and parts (VC gasket , o-rings and new NGK plugs) and with Valve Adjustment.

You should , Honda engines are notorious for valve ticks.

if you remove the rocker assembly to replace the tube seals, its required that you do a valve lash adjustment... which would be beneficial anyway...

and the oil on the plug wire is usually a good indicator that its the tube seals leaking. once enough oil pools up in there, once you loosen and remove the spark plug, it runs down the plug and gets the tip all wet, which makes some people scared that other things are leaking as well... from the color of your spark plug's electrode it looks like its probably been running fine, minus the leak
