ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

like 6-6.5k. if you want to raise it you need to do some head work. im going to do head work on my h23 head so i could rev it up to 8k.

Be aware that revving higher than stock puts a strain on the bottom end as well. I wouldn't spend money modifying the head just to risk putting a piston through it when a rod gives out!

Upgrading the valvetrain is important for high revs in the top end, and upgrading the rods and bearings (well, replacing the bearings) is important in the bottom end.

The H23 ECU (P14, I think?) should have a stock limiter. Even taking it to that isn't really a smart idea in stock form... especially given the age of the motor. In stock form, the motor won't make any more power higher than the stock limit anyway, so don't even worry about that. Headwork and cams, along with proper intake, exhaust, and tuning, will allow it to make power in a higher range... and then the upgrades I mentioned earlier will be necessary.

well the only reason i ask is becuase i have a Apexi SAFC2 and i can mess with the rev limiter and such......i dont know all the details of the cars specs becuase prev. owner is impossible ot reach....but i do know that i can change my RPM limit, and i was simply asking what it would be best for. Right now the car is limited to 6800 RPMs and shifts at about 6500 if in D4 and whomping on it. The car has been dyno tuned and tested by a 2 shops, RACE WORKS and SCP. The tranny has been tuned to say the least, im not sure if there was minor work done to it as well.

*EDIT* Ok , i really have had this question for a while and i want to know the answer ........ is the H23A a good motor..... i not only have not seen many of them swapped into our cars, but are they a weak engine???? i am just asking if i should get a H22 and then T it....i want to T this engine.....please be honest

some h23s here are turboed and people are happy with them. keep the rev limit as is, until you start building.

The H23 is a good motor... but has the same FRM sleeves as the H22. The lower compression makes it a safer motor to turbo in stock form, but it still may not last THAT long (boosting stock honda motors is never a good idea, IMO)

The H23 is a very capable motor, and with turbo, it'll be great. Just do it right, and spend the money for good parts and tuning. If you halfass the work, you'll get crappy results.
