ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    JDM H22a: Obd 1 or Obd 2?

    How can I tell if a jdm h22a is OBD1 or OBD2?

    #2
    aren't all H22a's OBD1?

      I hope so.

      Did JDM engines go obd2 for 1996+ cars? Or did Japanese smog rules not require OBD2 for 1996+ h22a's, making all h22a's obd1?

        If I remember correctly,
        H22a=OBD1
        H22a1=OBD1
        H22a4=OBD2
        H22a7=OBD2

          92-96 obd1
          97-01 obd2

          some 96's may have come obd2.

          if there is a black MAP sensor screwed to the top of the throttle body and only has a 4-pin distributor plug, its OBD2. no map sensor and a normal 8-pin dizzy plug indicates obd1.

          FYI either motor can be used in a cb7, except if you have an obd2 version, you need obd1 injectors and distributor to "convert" the motor to obd1, then it goes in like normal.

            This applies to JDM h22a's, correct?

              like what cp[mike] said, but all H22's that came with the CD6 and BB1/4 were OBD1.. only 97+ were OBD2..

              the H22a7 (euro-r/type-s) are OBD2..

              OT: cp[mike], if its OBD2, y do we need to convert it back to OBD1??

                Well, my dizzy has the 8-pin connector, identical to the one on my f22a1. So that should indicate OBD1... My throttle body, however, has the black MAP sensor sitting squarely on top of it.

                So, if my engine is OBD2 and somehow I have an OBD1 dizzy, then I'm a set of OBD1 injectors away from making it OBD1. But if my engine is OBD1 and somehow I have an OBD2 map sensor, then I would assume I should just use an OBD1 map sensor.

                Is there another way to identify if its OBD1/2?

                  simplicity's sake. the car is obd1, we have all obd1 wiring, if you hook the motor up OBD1 it all goes together easily, and it gives you the option of chipping and tuning P28's for it.

                    owhh.. but if we took the whole harness from the half-cut, that wont be a problem, ryte? ECU's and all, convert the car to OBD2..

                    but now, i cant check my DTC's using the PGM tester, coz i didnt take the 13-pin connector.. i can only check by jumping the pins..

                      Thats the easiest way to check for codes....Why convert to obd2 you lose the option to tune your car easier. Plus its more work than it looks like. Just use your harness modify the wiring. Everything is explained in the swap sticky on swapping the motors. Read it before asking anymore questions. IT also lists whats obd2 and how to do the obd2-1 conversion.
