ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:
http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=144
Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

is it any good intalling a cd5 sohc vtec head on a cb7 but not the whole engine just the head with vtec? i looked at the head gasket for it and compared it to a cb7 and its pretty similar ...im not a mechanic but my friend is and he says its posible that i would need the throdle body, head and computer and that would be it ...anyone done this ...and is it even worth it...

i searched around the site but mostly everything is about h22

ps i dont want a h22 people around here who selling it seem to have their fist up their ass and talk like they GODS and cant find any at the junk yards

dont waste your time, that head sucks and is unique to the point that nothing is interchangeable.

the f22b1 head does not flow as well as the f22ax head. the port shapes are inferior, and the ax head flow more even with the smaller valves on the f22ax.

        heres a comparison

Not to mention a headswap is a LOT of work for 10hp! It would not be worth the potential reliability issues.

Yeah, and I'm sure you wouldn't... The entire motor is rated at 150hp... With a headswap, you could gain or lose (and I'd bet on lose). SOHC VTEC isn't designed for anything but fuel economy anyway, so there's no performance gain from it. Such a headswap would pretty much be for the sake of having that VTEC valve cover

i tend to disagree a bit on that one as far as the civic motors go. i know they have a vtec-e which is the real economoy design, but some of the d series are pretty good performers in my book. ive felt vtec on a sohc...

Feeling it doesn't mean much... hell, the H22 performs better when you DON'T feel it. The crossover is set high so people would be impressed by the power felt by the ass-dyno and buy the car!

The SOHC VTEC Civic engines may be a little different, since those models were slated as "performance" models. The old Civic and CRX Si had SOHC VTEC motors, didn't they?

NYCPatron-save up a little bit of money and sacrifice for the H22 swap. If it is power that you are looking to gain, then this would be your best bet in my opinion. Look online and do some price shopping. I can vouch for Hmotorsonline.com because I purchased my OBD1 H22A swap with LSD from them and I cannot complain one bit. I recieved items that I did not even need to complete my swap, i.e. prelude half shaft along with axles, the cable shift linkage, and they even sent my a shifter assembly. Like I said though, do some research with different companies and if it is power that you are looking for, swap a H22 into your CB7

since everyone has 1500 for an h22. if you really want to do a headswap, the best would be h23 or f22b. but its gonna take some work, that is if your intent on doing a headswap.

its a good idea and i thought about it too but i think its too much money for a cb7 the only way i would do it if a aportunity comes by but like almost 2000 bucks on an engine its a lil too much for a car that no one would even want to buy for half of that....i know its a good car but not everyone understand the cb7 ....

B18b is the LS engine which is DOHC nonVTEC
