ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

turns out, theres 2 different kind of pads the car has, and theey didnt know what kind of brake pads to give me

so i went to the honda dealership, and teh guy gave me 45022-sm4-517

how do i know if i have the right pads??? i also bought some rotors, i think they are OEM. is there a chance my rotors and pads might not be compatible??

it depends on the brake caliper that you have, Akebono or Nissin

This is pretty comon on a lot of cars. They manufacture uses different calipers for the different trim levels usually, but also sometimes they find a problem with a certain caliper design, and change it mid year in production. Actually this is pretty comon for a lot of different parts on various cars.

just take the worn brake pad with you to an auto parts store and check to see if its an akebono or nissin pad. i had the same problem when i went to change my brake pads, a guy that works at advance auto told me that one set of pads was for a wagon and the other was for a coupe or sedan.

                OR,

you could look at the link i just posted and when you take off your old brake pad look to see what the caliper is stamped with.

the best way to find out is to just look, but as far as i understand it, coupes and made-in-japan sedans came with Nissin calipers, while all the rest had Akebono.

my '90 DX has Akebone also.

you can tell when you take the wheel off and looking at the caliper you see some diamonds stamped on it. Nissin will say Nissin on the body.

I'm pretty sure Akebono comes on US sedans because they are supposed to be "better" and the coupes have Nissin. I remember a thread about it on another honda forum but I can't find it. So I could be wrong but I don't think it has anything to do with the trim whether its DX LX or EX all sedans should have akebono and all coupes Nissin.
