ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

ebay is not the manufacture, they just sell the parts. so just check out the person whos selling it and their feedback and just take down the name of the part and do some research.
if you got something smart to say, guess what, i dont care.

when people refer to "ebay parts" its more of the no-name, china-made stuff that they sell only on ebay. arm-can is the predominant ebay seller of accord suspension kits, and they are known to be complete garbage.

Do yourself a favor, and spend the money on a good setup. This is a car, you shouldnt cheap out on any aspect of it.

Buy OEM replacements, or I am sure Energy Suspension makes a full kit for our cars.

I've been running arm-can upper control arms, upper ball joints, and sway bar bushings for over 2 years (maybe 3, now) with no problems whatsoever. I've been lowered the whole time. I haven't installed the lower ball joints or tie rod ends though... I may get OEM for those. If the upper stuff goes bad, it can be dangerous. If the lower stuff goes bad, you'll be sliding on your frame!

IMO, the ebay stuff is probably as good as anything you'd get from an autoparts store... that doesn't mean that it's good, but it'll do the job somewhat. If you plan on driving hard, I would go OEM, or even upgrade to something MEANT for performance.

Mike, those that have experienced failure with the ebay parts, can it be confirmed that the parts were installed correctly? Were the lower ball joints installed carefully, or smacked in with the ass-end of a 1/2" ratchet? Were the anchor bolts torqued properly? Were the old cotter pins reused because the ones that came with the kit were too long (and they ARE usually too long...)

It's very possible that the parts suck. But it's equally possible that the installation was sub-par, CAUSING the parts to fail. Not really defending cheapie suspension parts... just looking at another angle.

well, the only experience i have with arm-can parts are the upper control arms. they were installed as correctly as i could, and they have been clicking/clunking ever since, and the boots dried out and cracked open within a couple months. then from what ive heard of others having the balljoints break without warning scares the hell out of me.

ive noticed that with most ebay parts, the rubber seems all nice and fine, until you install the part and a couple months down the road (once pressure is put on it), you notice the rubber is all dried and cracking. its happened to me with the UCA balljoint boots, bushings, valve cover stud grommets, etc etc.

autozone/advance/napa actually carry semi name brand parts. TRW, Moog, Felpro... ebay carries very cheap, china parts. sure some may stand up fine, but its a risk you take.

Yeah... OEM parts are expensive. But if you think about it like they will probably last as long as your gonna have this car, it's worth it... if it took 14-17 years to break this time.
