Fuel Coming Out!!! Whyyy!!!

Okay i just got a new fuel filter and installed it, when i went turn the ignition a couple times to the on position, fuel started spraying out! why is it doing this? i threaded the inlet into the fuel filter as far as it would go with the recommended 27 ft lbs or so of torque, I for sure didn't overtighten it the outlet line, the one with the two washers and the banjo bolt seemd to be fine, no leak. So do i need to put some kind of sealant or what on the threaded line? HEEEEELLLPP please

i have no idea but id say you either didnt thread it correctly or something is fuct.

i just dont know why its doing this? i even took it off the clamp to thread it so it would go on straight. is there some kind of seal that needs to go on the threaded fitting?

i just took it ALL apart and put it back together again, its still spraying fuel everywhere. I have no idea how to fix it. Did i break a fuel line?

it looks like its coming out of the fitted threaded line, the one that feeds fuel into the filter. And when I took it back apart, there was fuel inside the filter so nothing is blocked or restricting the flow

when i did my i didnt tight the verticle nut tight enough and fuel sparyed out... make sure to get that straight in and tighten it as far as it will go without stripping the nut

yeah but doesn't that 17mm bolt (vertical nut) have a hole in it to allow the fuel to pass through it? so if you tighten it too much then that'll make the hole not line up? this filter is an autozone one, im just wondering if i should go and return it and buy a honda one

tighten it more. were the threads all clean when you put it togeether?

should i go as tight as i can? because the chiltons manual said like 27 for the threaded one and 16 for the 17mm one, that isn't much is it? oh and the threads were clean, no marring or crossthreading on the line

i didnt use a torque wrench and tightented the verticle nut as far in as it would go. if that dont work go buy a honda filter may be the one you got is not the same size?

well the vertical nut was Extremely hard to remove, i had to go get a 1/2in breaker bar from sears and put a 3/8in adapter with the 17mm to remove it. But was that because it was probably original? i can go tighter but i just dont wanna screw it up. but okay i'll try and tighten it more and check

okay im going to try and return this filter and get another one, but have any of you tried to replace this fuel filter? it just seems like the fuel is coming out of the fitted metal part that goes into the threaded screw.

I would say tighten more until snug really snug but dont overtighten. Usually thast what I do I ignore torque specifications unless I have the motor apart and decide to build somethin.
