ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    What would you do?

Well here is the deal, if you had(or think you have)a blown head gasket, would you get it repaired or just get another motor? I currently have a F22a1 and more than likely if I buy another motor, it's going to be a F22ax. I don't know, what do you think?

I think it would be wise to just buy a new motor with low miles on it, as its probably gonna be more cost effiecent, however if you can shell out the extra dough it would probably be better to go with dohc engine, if you really have extra cash I would go with the h22 swap, vtec would be worth it. As I had a similar problem and found a good jdm f22 for 400 bucks, but I turned down a f20a that was an extra bill, which in retrospec would have probably been the better buy and left some options open for tuning. But hey depends on your budget.

Also if its just your head gasket and if you have the equipment to pull your motor out then there are most likely some parts on it, if not damaged, you could part out and make some cash off of. If I were in that position I would be saving up for the big H swap. Or at least something with lower mileage. Just my two cents. Later

yo ur gonnna get chraged at least a grand to get that headgasket repaired by a mechanic and since ur a noob i dont know if u can do an engine swap. your best bet and it will make it well worth it. is to get an f22b DOHC. its a good motor, not as good as an h22 but alot cheaper when it comes down to it. you can get a good one for 650 shipped if you know what your doing.

thier is a place called allversions in florida. they do every import motor swap sr20 b18 k series even in an accord. you get them an engine, it should cost no more than 750 maybe even 5 prolby more around 5 but they buy all the parts for the swap theyll even get you a motor if you want but it usually cost more. its just an option but when u get to this point ive always had this saying

you put money into a car to make it better not to fix it, because then your back where u started with a whole in your pocket. but if you put something better in, youve got a bit of a bigger whole in your pocket but your one step ahead of where you started. and your one step on solid ground (if you do it right)

whatever you do, do it right.

                  Judgemental much?

Just because they don't have 30 posts yet doesn't mean they don't know anything about cars.

Last I checked you weren't an expert at engines.

its *MUCH* cheaper to replace the HG than buy a whole new motor. and if youre skilled enough to swap a new motor in, youre skilled enough to do the HG. even if you dont know how to do it, a shop charges less for a HG than for a swap.

just replace the HG and be happy that you have a fresh HG. id rather have that, than another "new" F22 with a used HG.

no way bro. i work at a shop taking an engine in and out is a pretty simple process. when a shop has to do internal work the price is always alot more, its not how easy it is its how complicated it is. Internal work is always more expensive and a real shop at least has to send the head off so they can gauruntee their work. I had a blown headgasket in my mustang and they wanted 3 grand to fix it and this was one of the best shops in florida. My dad had the HG done on his celica and it was 1100. 2 years later the motor blew and he paid a guy 1200 dollars to swap a motor including the price of the motor.
