ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    VSS Question...

So I have the typical VSS problems... odometer, speedometer and cruise control doesn't work but everything else works. I ordered a new Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) and was ready to intall it.

Before I took out the old one I noticed one of the wires going to the sensor was pretty much cut off. No wonder the thing doesn't work. So I unplugged the old VSS, and never installed the new one because I had to leave. Anyways, since being unplugged, the speedometer comes on and the needle bounces around randomly while I'm driving. When I press the brakes it will go back to zero, and then I let go of the brakes (may still be stopped tho) and it will go back up. The VSS isn't even plugged in!?!

My question is: Do I have a bad ground from the speedometer or something? And should I even bother installing the new one?

It acted the same before and after I unplugged it. I am confused as to why the speedometer goes up and down randomly while the VSS isn't even pugged in... Thanks for the reply.

dont even try to figure it out... you have cut/shorted wiring and a disconnected VSS... get it all cleaned, re-spliced, and connected properly... if youre still having weird jumping tach problems, THEN worry about it.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Next chance I get, I'll try to clean up the wiring and install the new VSS. If I still have problems I will update this thread, if not .

im having the exact same problem, but my vss is still plugged in...
when i brake, it goes all the way down and then as soon as i let go it goes back up, then it goes all bouncy on me...
should i only replace the electrical sensor , or should i replace the whole gear thing?

I haven't had the chance to install the sensor yet. When I do I'll let you know if it solved it Unless of course yours needs to be fixed asap.
