ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

    Need cat/exhaust removal help fastttt.

Need a quick reply, anyone have any advice on removing the three bolts on the cat so I can drop the exhaust, my ws2 came in and im itchin to put it in . The nuts wont budge I tried lube and some brute force, I dont want to pull to hard and break the bolt. Maybe heat up the flange around the bolt?

(Im dirty and covered in grease, dirtying up the keyboard , heck i still got my protective glasses on.)

Umm spray some good heat lube shit on there. I have GM Heat Lube, when thats heated up and absorbed in the bolt/nut I need loosened, it works like a charm. Your best bet is to heat the exhaust up w/ some sort of spray like I mentioned. If that doesn't work, then hey your gona need to cut it off or something, and get a test pipe. I found that the easiest way, considering I had my own piping, welder, and cutting wheels for my angle grinder.

PB Blaster = I broke it loose with a breaker bar and used an impact as mentioned above. But a breaker bar is always useful.

Mixed all your things together, seeing as i wanted to do it today and its past 12am here. Dremeled between the nut and the cat, then WD-40'd it for a while, finally break bar and tada. In 10 minutes I had all 3 off.

all too commonly around here, a 6pt socket will completely round it into a circle, and vice grips will rip chunks out of the bolt, but it will still never come out. the threaded tip of stud looks like a brown cone, and the nut is somewhere between a 12mm and a 13mm due to rust...

i usually have to drop the exhaust hangers, hacksaw between the nut and the downpipe flange (only halfway thru, knock the rest off with a hammer). then you can hammer the remaining piece of hte stud out of the cat, and replace it with a regular bolt & washers...

i got mine off with a 3/4" adapter and an electric torque wrench

                it came off like nothing!

felt easier than when i tried breaking the bolts loose with just a breaker bar and socket

                saved me some time

it shouldnt be too bad...i suggest PB Blaster and a breaker bar ( a trick i use is get someone to hold the socket/wrench on the nut so it doesnt strip the nut, and use ur foot to turn the wrench for more force) That PB shit works great and it really breaks bolts loose very well. Hell...spray some in a styrofoam cup and let it sit on the floor...it'll eat right thru it in about 5 minutes.

My mech cut the bolt heads off and knocked them out, they just stripped when we tried to wrench them. They were rusted all to hell.

on the stairs, she grabs my arm, says whats up,
where you been, is something wrong?
i try to just smile, and say everything’s fine.

ok so the dumbasses who did my smog last, welded a cat right into the piping... they took a catalytic converter.. too short for our cars .. added about 2 inches of piping on each side and welded it straight onto where the catalitic converter should be. The bolting plates are still there though. . . so i got a question .. how well will a dremel work to slice off my current cat, so i can bolt on a cat i have lying around?

^^Thats basically how mine is right now, hah

My mech used a saw-zall sort of deal, and just cut that bastard up. I'm sure you could do it with a dremel, but its kinda awkward using 1 inch cutting discs to try to cut through exhaust piping, especially since you have to hold it at a 90 degree angle to the cutting surface. There are quicker ways, like the afore-mentioned saw-zall.

My recommendation, having learned from my mistakes, have it done right the first time. My shit looks like ghetto style, b/c we just rushed through it and got it on, when I saw the cat was on crooked, I just said f it, because I wanted to try my new exhaust so badly.

Just do it right the first time, be a pro.
