ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    EGR Valve Cleaning Question

I totaly understand it and know what to do but I'm confused on one part. It says "After using a pick or a drill bit to break the carbon loose, use compressed air and carb cleaner to make sure the port is clear." and it says "Use a pick or drill bit to clean out the passageway. Go straight down and be sure and clear the hole at the bottome of the runner."

Now there is no way they picked all of the carbon crap out of the whole, reading it I assume they want me to knock all the carbon into the whole and clear the bottom of them, then re apply the valves. This confuses me because I would think knocking all the carbon crap into the pipe area of the intake manifold which I'm assuming enters the engine would be horrible for the engine. The only thing that caught my atention was when they said this is where the exhaust gasses enter, so I guess the exhaust goes into the intake manifold which would mean the carbon would go out the exhaust wich is fine but I find it hard to beleive that exhaust goes back into the intake manifold, I thought it just sucked air into the engine and then out the headers, which would mean the carb crap going into the engine and most likely staying there. I could be wrong but if that is what happenes then wouldn't that do damage? or maybe it is exhaust and it's fine..

Can someone clarify for me please and explain how it works? Thanks guys
I posted this in the technical forum and only got one response which was suggesting to take the entire intake manifold off.. what do you guys think.

Okay, I will. I was just wondering since it never said to remove it during the whole diy.

you don't have to remove the manifold to do this, it a luxury but most don't have the time to removed it. The carbon buildup will fall into the manifold and get suck into the engine and get burn up. That mean after you unclog the port you will have to run hard and rev high to help the engine burn the extra carbon, don't worry it should not harm your engine unless you have to drill the EGR service port(for some model) and metal shaving fall in the manifold. People also clean their throttle body at the same time since after dumping lot of cleaning agent(seafroam or what ever) you have to run hard and rev your engine so it will burn all the extra cleaning cleaning agent. you will see and hear some noises from the engine, but after a few minute all the extra carbon and junk are burn up and go out the exhaust.
