ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    H22a Variations

What are the differences between the H22a Type S and the H22a Euro R. I'm pretty sure one is from the Prelude and the other is from the Accord. What are the differences in performance, price difference, difficulty to install, reliabilty, and how hard to find them.

    Thanks

one is from europe and the other is from japan. They are technically the same .http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=641555 read up more on it. Theres is really no real difference in performance the euro has no iabs and the really thing that makes it stick out somewhat is the manifold one is a single stage which is the euro and the other is a daul stage which is the type s. Both are really hard to find in mint condition thats if your willing to pay for them.

actually, both are JDM. the type-S came in the Prelude type-S, the euro-R came in the JDM Accord Euro-R, which is japan's version of europe's Accord Type-R.

both have the same block with higher compression (11:1) type-s pistons.

both have an upgraded head, but actual details are hard to give because we dont know actual facts about the differences. they share similar heads, but different... different valve angles, stiffer valve springs, misc other stuff... im going to check for sure soon, since im taking my euro-r head all apart. the two heads had different casting stamps, meaning they are actually different in the way they were produced, so its not just a regular h22 head.

cam differences are unknown. both are upgraded from a regular h22, differences between these 2 specific H22 cams are unclear.

as far as the manifold, the type-s came with a regular h22 manifold, the euro-r came with a solid cast single runner manifold setup, similar to the skunk2 one. search google images for "euro-r manifold" and youll see it, its common for people to install these on regular h22's for a bump in higher end HP.

euro-r came with a single row crank pulley, one that doesnt have a space for a power steering belt... i assume the cars came with electric power steering pumps.

euro-r has a better LSD unit and different gearing compared to the other h22 trannies.

heres a thread where i was trying to figure out the differences: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthre...=euro-r+type-s

as far as difficulty to install, both are pretty similar and they both are OBD2 so they will require just abotu the same amount of work to install. they are still just regular H22 blocks, so installation is teh same as any other H22. the euro-r requires a little bit of extra work figuring out the vacuum lines and stuff on the manifold, but thats it.

the h22 euro-r is hard to find, ive never seen one for sale (note that teh H22 euro-r has a red valve cover, the blue valve cover is an F20B euro-r). the f20b euror and the h22 type-s are rare and expensive, but you can find them if you want one.

fyi, h22sparkle has a type-s and i have a euro-r. click my sig pic if youre curious what it looks like. more pictures: http://www.****.com/pics/92exr/

different how? Euro-R has P5P pistons, identical to Type-S, and the same 87.0mm bore and 90.7mm stroke...
