ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

    Need advice on fuel gauge

    Hi there,

I usually get about 450km (280miles) out of a tank of petrol down under.. However I recently went on a camping trip and got 700km (440miles) out of a tank.. Now, whilst this is quite a fair bit more, it is understandable because I was on the highway alot more, and didnt have to stop/start the whole time..

Anyway what was weird was that my fuel gauge didnt drop below half way.. I had done 700km and it still stuck at half way.. Being the nimwit I am, I genuinely believed that I had done 700km and could get another 700km out of the tank.. Boy was I wrong..

Got back home only to run out of petrol 15minutes later..

Since then I have been filling up but Ive had to fill up a full tank each time and rely on my tripmeter to workout how much further I could go..

The petrol gauge fills up to the top when I fill up my tank, but never drops below half way, despite my actual level of petrol..

Does anyone have any ideas on what my problem might be, and/or how I could fix this problem.. If it needs It Ill take it to the mechanic but im hoping someone can give me a simple fix for this..

    Cheers,
    Scott

(P.S Pardon the essay, ive written this on a few Australian Honda forums to no avail)

hmm, is there anything jamming it up, possibly some gauge face overlays? does the low-gas light ever turn on?

No, thats the problem.. I didnt realise how low I was on fuel because the low fuel light never comes on.. I have run the car dry twice, thankfully not too far from a service station each time.. I now keep a can of petrol in the back..

Sounds like the fuel level sending unit arm/float is hung up in the tank. It's made that when it gets to a certain level, operating off resistance to the guage, the light will start to glow. Put about 380 -400km on it after a fill up to be sure that the level is below half tank and open the trunk and with a dead blow or rubber mallet, give a couple good taps to the foor behind the rear seat just right of center and under the car same area just in front of the rear passenger side wheel. Otherwise you'll probably have to pull the assembly to diagnose further.

maybe this will work for me. my fuel guage read full 24/7 but, the light work for low fuel. maybe it just stuck ,n-e-ways i just make shure i put some in every 3-4 days.

my best advice being someone with a former vehicle that had a broken gas gauge that was no good after 1/2 a tank... just fill it up full, put some gas in a can in the back and run it dry, find out how many miles you get in the city on average, you dont even gotta get it dry, i get about 300 miles per full tank, and i drive pretty aggressively 75% of the time. just learn your cars mileage, i barely use the gas gauge unless i dont fill up on this car, do the math after youve run dry, figure out your approximate miles to gallon, and base your gas off that. its much more efficient. gas gauges differ in every vehicle, they are not reliable in my book.

hope i could be help... yager bombs... im loaded, nuff said
