ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Okay I got it jumped and turned the ingnition to the #2 'acc. on' position. The CEL comes on but it just stays on, no blinks- should I reset the ECU?

      That usually is a bad ECU. Reset it and see what happens and see if the ECU is grounded. A Code 0 usually is a bad ECU.

        Holy crap! You and I were doing the same thing today, at the same time, and got the same results! Don't tell me you also have a 5-Speed Coupe?

        BTW, I jumped it, put the key to #2, and the CEL just stayed lit continously.
        I took off the negative battery terminal and will let it sit overnight.

          ^^ nah, it's my mom's pimp wagon

          I reset the ECU but I still get the same thing. I'm wondering if it might be the main relay...in this post it sounds like the guy's having the same problems http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthre...ght=main+relay
          another post says this:
          "Accord Vehicle Info:

          91 EX Automatic

          Symptom(s):
          Car would not start after being driving for a while on hot days. After cool down it would restart.

          Cause(s):
          Main relay solder points had become loose. Removed main realy under dash and resoldered points.

          Price(s):

          Freebie, did it myself!"

          Imma see if I can either get my dad to resolder the points since i dunno how or look for one online- saw one before for about 30bucks

            Thanks to cp[Mike] , the solid lit CEL basically means you have no codes stored. However, if you jumped the connector and you had no CEL , then that would mean a bad ECU.

            That makes you happy, right ?

              yeah, i saw the other thread but not this one... if your check engine light isnt lit up while youre driving, jumping the connector will make it light up with a solid light. this doesnt mean you have a bad ECU, it means theres no stored codes. if you DO have a check engine light coming on while driving and you jump the connector to pull the code and its a solid light with no flashing, thats a code 0, meaning a bad ECU

                so if I reset the ECU and then jumped the connector after letting the car sit a few mins, and the CEL just stayed on again, does that mean I just have to drive the car for a few days to let the ECU run tests and get the error codes again?
                ...Assuming there are codes to get that is- if not I ordered a main relay online so when it finally arrives I'll find out if that's what's causing the problems (I hope so! ).

                  Did you get a CEL while driving ? If no, then there are no codes stored in the ECU and you will get a solidly lit CEL, which means your car is not throwing a code and is supposedly running right.

                    No- no CEL light when driving, that's why I figured it might be the main relay.

                      It turns on fine on cold start but has problems after it's already warmed up- either wont start, or if it does idle will jump all the way up to 2k rpms then come down to normal and when shifting it's erratic. Also, after a cold start and the car has warmed up, I'll shut the car off and try to restart it and if it does start it dies.

                        haha been a while since I posted to this thread but jsut in case anyone searches for the same problem I had - I replaced the main relay with the new one and the car starts just fine now when already warmed up

                        ...only having one other problem though which is an erratic idle- when I shift into park or back into drive (I think...might be just when I shift to park) the rpms will jump up to like 2k in park then drop down after a sec to the normal 1k..

                        ... oh yeah and just wanted to say thanks to all the cb7 guys here- ever since I found this site it's been such a huge asset

                          hard time finding the connector

                          i had a hell of a time finding that connector. but the colors posted above helped me to find it. mine was tucked up along the side of the blower with the connector shoved into the grill on the side of the blower. here is a pic:

                          jumped the connector and pulled the code (12). i think i need to have the egr ports cleaned. it has a slight drop in rpm when coming to a stop.

                            Good job. Yeah....sometimes that connector is shoved inside, especially if it has never been used/discovered. I had get under the dash and search for mine also but it was easy to find since I was looking for a blue connector with 2 wires attached.

                            Good luck on the EGR cleaning.
