ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.
2 of 2 < >

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

To the OP welcome to the forum, I personally run Castol 10W-30 in my H22. When I was ballin out of control, I previously used Royal Purple 10W-30. When I was working for Honda and got "free oil changes"(After Service closed I just stuck the hose in the oil cap and let er rip!) I used Pennzoil 10W-30 for about a year.

To the other members let's not make this a Paraffin Wax Bash Fest; there is a thread for that already. The OP is simply asking for recommended brands.

      For those with H22 swaps...
And those with f22s or any other motor...

"In the Malaysian market at least, Honda officially markets two grades of engine oil. The "Honda Engine Oil" is a semi-synthetic 15W-40 oil which is recommended for all Honda engines, including the super high spec'ed DOHC VTEC and DOHC iVTEC versions."

link to article that the quote came from

So, it shows that in certain markets, Honda actually recommends using 15w40. In my experience, it lowers the noise of the engine while running and idle feels smoother.

I googled it and something (web site) about perfume came up.

The correct spelling is Paraffin. Try that. But let's stay on topic.

Hey thanks for all the help guys. I think I'm going to run half synthetic blend 5w-30 from honda. I've been using it on my 1993 accord (parts car) and she runs like a champ! Along with a oem honda filter.

I really do love when people get so crazy over this topic.

Bobtheoilguy is a good reference point, but outside that, its all just smoke.

Change it reguarly with a new filter and id say it doesn't matter what the fuck you use.

Unless you live in an area with extreme temps(Az or Canada) or where it is REALLY dusty(change more often) then just get what you can afford and stay on top of changes.

Everyone makes such a big deal about it and then people just forget to change it and think because they read all this bs that it can go 402934 miles without a change.

                CHANGE IT.

                /thread.

People should give their recommendation based on their real experiences, hard evidences and such.
Not like "I feel my engine run smoother with this oil" type of claims. It is normal to feel the engine running better right after oil change no matter what oil being used.

I expected spell check to fix it and it didn’t. And it doesn’t make a bit of difference anyway.

I stated that it would mostly be people’s opinion in my first post. It happens every time. And I recommended bobstheoilguy.com which is where hard evidence can be found.

Great choice. From experience and my $48000 education i have found that syn blend is the absolute best choice for oil.

I historically was a mobile 1 guy, and generally still am.

I have been drifting into castrol gtx lately after reading about the durability and flashpoint qualities of the oil.

The information is out there, I really think there is a huge preference issue here as well. I used to run quaker state and jumped ship when everyone else did. Thing is, I never had any issues with quaker state. I used it for 5-6 years. Lots of it.

I have a fleet of well taken care of cars. I change a lot of oil.

                        Anyone reading this conversation about oil, and happens to also be turbo;

Get a fucking oil cooler. I can't believe how many people chince out on an oil cooler after spending a zillion dollars on the turbo setup.

Oil coolers work. Do it, its an easy mod. If you are broke as fuck or would rather not spend the money, go to the JY and pull a power steering fluid cooler off of any car, and use barbed fittings to hook it up inline with your return line. Obviously clean the shit out of it prior to using.

An oil cooler will cost less than $100 and seriously help a ton with heat management in the engine.

^^^ I thought it was rather funny finding that interesting word in a post you are ranting about a well known/large company.

And I recommended bobstheoilguy.com which is where hard evidence can be found.
^^^I've been reading and checking that site from time to time for as long as I can remember, quite few years at least. Thank you. The site has different look than when I first found the site. One of article they had for this product was erased since I read it. The test result was not in favor of the maker of the product. I wonder why that article was removed from the site. Is it due to lawsuit/commercialism/sponsors? I have no idea. On the forum it has, some of posts are open to questions to me as well.

I've done some research on this topic . the only real difference between oils is the volacity . conventional oil has a thicker volacity than synthetic . look at like this . conventional is like honey and synthetic is like water . ericthecarguy will explain it better .

Hey thanks guys I really appreciate the input. The reason I made this thread is because I believe an oil change is one of the cheapest and best maintenance that can do for my vehicles. I really appreciate the input!!

Mobile 1, 5w-30, full syn, every oil change. I like to be consistent, and I buy the oil in 6 packs at sam's club for reasonably cheap...
