Best oil for high Milage accord?

What do you mean by truth? I am telling you as an employee at a Honda Dealership that we use Pennzoil. I've visited other dealers and have seen it as standard. I'm not sure what Parrafin Wax is however so perhaps you can elaborate?

If you have a leak you need to fix of regardless of what oil is in there...I use royal purple and have 285k and its good so its really up to what you want to use.

Base stocks refined from paraffin crudes (most notably Pennsylvania crudes) do harbor a relatively high percentage of paraffin waxes after fractional distillation because the two molecules are in the same molecular weight range. But the actual paraffin base stocks are not the same as paraffin wax. The biggest problem with residual paraffin wax content in middle distillates out of the fractional tower from paraffin crude, and, still present to some degree in solvent refined oil (Group I), is that it raises the gel point in cold weather. At normal temperatures in solution, paraffin wax is a pretty good lubricant since it is relatively non-reactive. However, with the advent of catalytic hydrogen isomerization, most of these residual waxes are actually converted to desirable lower gel point lubricant molecules in Group II and, even more so, in Group III base stocks. But for old-timers, and their spawn, brought up on the notion that since Pennsyvania crudes were paraffinic in nature, rather than the less desirable asphaltic crudes found elsewhere, Pennsylvania crudes will always be suspect of harboring nasty, gummy, sludge-prone waxes just lurking to ruin an engine. It's B.S.

Well if you ever buy a Honda from a dealer....that's what will be in it. Many years ago Honda used Mobil 1 for a time, but I'm not sure of why they made the switch. I figure the engineers are the experts, and not some guy named "Bob"; so I trust them.

I have always ran Havoline or Walmart Super Tech in my cars and have never had an issue. As long as you change it at least every 5k and use a good filter, i.e. Wix or Purolator, you should be fine.

Change it sooner if it is really dusty where you live or if you only drive a couple of miles and then shut your car off. You need to get the oil good and hot to burn off moisture and contaminates.

Since the op stated that he recently rebuilt the engine then synthetic would be fine. I would not run it in an older car if all that has been in it was dino.

Did you even read the article? I used penzoil for the first 4 yrs I owned my cb...guess what, it runs great. Just do proper maintenance on your car and don't be an idiot when it comes to doing so and you will be fine.

I've just known a few pope who ran pennzoil in there cars and the cars seemed to like castrol edge and royal purple over pennzoil I guess they all really do the Same damn thing so I guess it really does just come down to preference

Also never use Pennzoil. It contains Paraffin wax.

Then never get your oil changed at a Honda Dealership....cuz that's what we use buddy!

I worked at the Honda dealership here and we never had Pennzoil!

Jessica, I never said it was standard of ALL dealerships, just of the ones I have seen. The ones in Jacksonville all do to my knowledge based on what I've seen come in on the trucks. Different regions may have different access to other oil vendors.

Well Coggin only owns 2 out of the 6 in the area, so I'm guessing Pennzoil just has a "foothold" in the region possibly.
