ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    F22A6 intake on F22A1

I know I've read a thread somewhere that detailed all of the essentially bolt on upgrades for the F22A1, but even after searching I can't for the life of me find it.

Anyway, I just got back from the junk yard with some F22A6 runners (lower intake, the manifold), and the F22A6 butterfly valve stack. I didn't grab the plenum (the upper intake, with the throttle body attached), as I assumed it was the same as I already have on my F22A1. Am I right there on that one? Also, is the butterfly stack the same as well?

The engine I pulled it from had the valve cover on as well, so I suppose I could go snag the camshaft too; what all do I need to grab with that? Do I need the head? The journals it rides in? The springs and tappets?

Before I left for the yard, I read about double stacking the butterfly stack on the intake. What the heck is that all about? Why would I want to do it? Doesn't that change the compression dynamic of the intake?

Compression dynamic intake. Wth is that friend?

      Read that link...

The a1 plenum will not work on a6, and double stacking.. there's a thead fo that also. For me it made my engine have more tq, not 2 mention it sounds nasty. But I have h series intake on with double stack iab plates.

I used dynamic as a noun; the dynamic that changing the length of the intake changes; the one that when the intake port closes creates a pressure wave that reverberates and compresses the air in sync with when the intake port opens again. Sorry for the poor word choice; I did a bunch of reading between when I first posted and now. Turns out I was right; it does change the system, and that's the whole reason why you do it. Again, sorry for the confusion.

Thanks for the info! It sounds like I should have bought the plenum and throttle body as well then; damn. They wanted like $35 for it though. They also wanted $35 for a 21 year old ECU; I found two PT6s and one P06; I didn't bring any of 'em home. :/

I did nab an F22A4 exhaust header w/ heat shield though ($20) and an F22A6 intake manifold w/ IAB stack ($30). I didn't grab the IAB black box, though. That needs to be used in conjunction with the PT6, yeah? Also, it looks like the F22A1 exhaust headers have a sensor screwed into them; where is this replaced on the F22A4 header? I only grabbed the piece that bolts to the block; I figured the lower portions were all the same. Is that so, or do I need to go and grab a lower now too?

I also didn't find a single H22 or H23 to take a throttle body and/or plenum off of...

The plenum is moreso the upgrade than the lower half. That, and the "butterflies" (the IAB plate) are what make the A6 different. The A1 has no IABs, and no secondary set of runners.

For the hassle and expense, you could've just bought a full H23 manifold from ebay.

How come your yard is charging separately? You should've bolted all that shit together and bought it as an "intake manifold", plain and simple.

That's what I thought as well. I had the plenum and throttle body all attached as a single unit. It was ridiculously expensive. They were even trying to charge me for the egr relay on there. I probably wont be going back there again anytime soon. I guess I'll look for an H22 or H23 plenum and throttle body on eBay.

Yeah, might as well. Most of those things are sold as part of the whole manifold, though... so you'll probably end up with one set of runners you don't need. At least now you'll have the option! Plus, if all you can find is the H22 manifold, you'd need what you have now to install the plenum anyway, as the H22 runners can't be used on the F22 (only the H23 runners can be bolted to the F22 head.)

Cheapest I could find on eBay was this, $100 shipped, and it doesn't come with the throttle body:
                  http://www.ebay.com/itm/93-Honda-Pre...-/270978495841

It looks like there might be something available locally via craigslist. Is the $45 for the throttle body all the way to the runners as listed in your "30+ HP for $500 or less" thread still reasonable? What about for just the throttle body and plenum, $30?

Thanks for you help folks. I'll keep you all posted on how the engine is doing if you're at all interested. The body is pretty f*cked up, though; lots of rain and snow here in Nebraska; the rear panels have a bit of rust. The previous owner started some bondo work on the driver side but never finished. It looks like a total bucket, . But it runs well! It would be a lot better if I could figure out that damn transmission leak. The engine has a nice leak as well, but I haven't looked into that one at all yet.

TB and plenum for $30 would be reasonable, I'd say. You'll need the IAB control box from the H23, H22, or A6 as well, if you don't already have it.

I grabbed myself an A6 cam today, and I nabbed an IAB black box while I was at it. Every single one I found had a crack like this one, with some being much much worse:

The little piece that sits on the top were all brittle as well, this one being the best I found:

Is that crack going to be a problem? Is that round piece on top still acceptable?
