AEM Wideband

I bought an AEM wideband to make it easier for someone to tune my car.
So i have all the wiring and everything ready but I need to get a new bung welded for the wideband to be installed.

On AEM's website it says to get it welded in 36inches from the manifold. Does this mean that it needs to be welded before the cat? From what I'm reading on google people that have installed their widebands in the stock location have had faulty o2 sensors because they get too hot in the stock location. The stock location is at the end of the downpipe and before the cat for me.

Got mine's welded at the stock location (before cat like yours) and works fine.

Odds are they are talking about the location found in the actual header. You should be fine in the location just before the cat.

There are "2" o2 sensor locations. On my 91 it's right by the cat, but on my 93 it's right off the header. If yours is next to the cat, it's sounds like you'd be okay. But if your o2 sensor location is coming off the header you might want to find a new spot.

That doesn't make sense at all.





OP, the easiest place to put the sensor will be down near the cat. Before the cat (never after.) The best person to ask would probably be someone at an exhaust shop, or better yet, the person that is going to tune your car.

I was simply stating the 2 locations for the o2 sensors
I've installed full exhaust on both my 91 and 93. And the o2 sensor was in different spots each time. My apologies if this info wasn't helpful to the OP...
