Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

    Best engine oil?

What is the best engine oil to put in our Honda's with over 100k miles on them?

There is really no definite answer on this topic. Its really all up to personal preference after a certain point ( i.e quakerstate being shit oil )

Well I read on a thread that I need thicker type of oil to use to alleviate the knocking in my engine. What would be a good choice. (engine knocks @ around 2000-3000 rpm)

No oil is going to fix mechanical problems. If your engine is knocking, then you have something damaged inside that needs to be replaced. That, or detonation is occurring, which has nothing to do with oil.

Lucas isn't going to fix your problem either.

I'm going to upload a video this weekend on the sound. Not sure if its knocking or something hitting agianst the heat shield. But it happens at those rpms. Btw i just got my whole centerpipe exhaust system changed and the gaskets.

Also around 1500 miles after an oil change, i checked my dipstick and the oil level is a little below the minimal line. Where is the oil going lol. I know for a fact there is no oil leaks.

Upload a video, it might be the same sound that is coming out of my engine. Is it an f22A1? And is the sound coming from the drivers side? Have you tried tightening the heat shield? or making sure there is nothing loose under the engine where the sound is coming from? Mine still makes the knocking sound at around those RPM. It could be a broken motor mount.

What's the best oil for our cars? The question is more along the lines of..What oil shouldn't I use for my car?

Doesn't really matter what oil you use not going to affect the knocking. But i use Castrol GTX. But like RedFalcoln said it could be a broken motor mount. My car makes a weird knocking/clunking/rubbing sound also when i hit the throttle and i was told it could be a motor mount also.

Do you hear it when you get to those rpm's from inside the car. It makes the sound right before it shifts at around those rpms (which i think is 2nd and 3rd gear.) From inside the car, the sound appears to come from the drivers side.

                    Edit:

How would i check if the heatshield is loose, I don't know where or what the heatshield is. Please forgive me lol

I can hardly hear it from inside the car when my windows are up, when they are down it is very noticeable. Once I get up to 4000+ RPM range it goes away.

When you open up the hood the heat shield on most cars is the thing that has a hand on it with a line a cross it. "Don't touch/Don't place hands here/Hot"

The heat shield covers the Exhaust Header and as stated above in the pic has the no touchy symbol on it.

There are also heatshields up and down your exhaust. They try to shield the heat from the exhaust from melting your car. The cat has some around it. So does the muffler.

A heat shield would make a hollow rattling sound, not a knocking sound. It's very difficult to mistake a rattling heat shield for something wrong inside the engine.

Also, if you lose half your oil in 1500 miles, then you are either leaking it or burning it. If you don't see any oil on the ground under your car, then you are burning it... a lot of it. That again will suggest that something is broken inside the engine. Burning oil could be from a number of things, but major oil consumption paired with knocking is a pretty clear sign that you need to rebuild or replace that engine.

You could try some 10w40 for your next oil change.

My civic had a noise around that rpm range and it ended up being a cracked exhaust manifold, since you just had some exhaust work done it could be a leak. Otherwise check your spark plugs see if they are all the same color and what condition there in. A tune up and valve adjustment couldn't hurt either.
