ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

    Replace Suspension Bolts?

I'm getting all the parts I need together before I do some suspension upgrades.

I was wondering how many of you replaced the bolts with new hardware? Mainly I was worried about the bolts that hold on the struts. But I might get the bolts for all the rear lower control arms also.

Those are the bolts I'll be removing. Please excuse my ignorance if this information is already posted. I couldn't find anything on here through searching.

the bolts that come in the car are the top grade metal to withstand the beatings.. in my opinion i would only replace a bolt if the OEM bolt was stripped or bent but even then the replacement would be and OEM one

Replace them as needed. I didn't have to replace any of bolts when I did strut and spring replacement job along with urethane bushing installation on a Civic. Since your location is in AZ, rusting bolts are not that much of concern I think.

If you take them out, get a wire wheel to it to clean it up if its rusty or anything.

But personally I dont think you need to change any bolts and waste money.
What makes me laugh about forums, is that no matter how much you try to help someone, they dont take the advice. Go ahead and do it the hard way.

You got to respect what you drive, and appreciate what you have, making the best of what you got. and if that means putting CAI, HID's, a phat stereo system, and a idiot in the drivers seat...then so be it!

Factory fasteners are the best to use no question at all. Accordztech is right get a wire wheel and clean them up or use a wire brush, No reason to replace unless you MUST. I replaced all of my control arms, struts, and necessary bushings I reused all the factory fasteners I cleaned them with a wire wheel and wire brush. I used loctite and you need clean threads for that. I also used a torque wrench to make sure I did it right. Save your money and use it on your car for something else.

I think you posted a picture, but I can't see it.

The rear has issues with frozen bolts. The ones that hold the strut to the knuckle sometimes freeze. The one that holds the front lower control arm in the rear on the inside will freeze.

By freeze, I mean stuck until you tear the bushing.

wire wheel the bolts clean and then ANTISIEZE the bolt so they dont freeze again.ive done that with all my suspension bolts that have previously came off to avoid further issues.
