ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Pregapped plugs aren't always correct. It's ALWAYS good to double check, as you did.
Make sure your sources are correct. I'm actually finding mixed answers on this site alone... ranging from .039 to .044 (many incorrectly shown as you have, as .39 or .44)

If it were me, I'd put them in as-is, and adjust them if the engine doesn't seem to run properly. That, or seek a better source of information, since it seems rather questionable on here...

0.44 is the gap. I think I saw it in a manual or check under your hood.

These don't come pre gapped. I put them in a cd5 last week and had to gap them, and I bought them for my 2.0 and I have 2 gap them.

I've always ran mine at .42, never seemed to have any issues with them.

The correct gap is 0.44 auto zone says so. Orielly says so and the manual. and also under the hood say so. I actually just did plugs and my car was running like crap. So I had to go through a headache getting all this simply but very useful information.

Let's be a little realistic here. Its a lil hard to get it exactly at .042 using that round spark gapper. For me I actually put it at .045 if it goes further I do close it.

.045 seems easier to gap than being so accurat at .042 or.044

Just get the G power. $.60 more and you don't have to (can't) gap them. Problem solved.

0.44" is about the thickness of my little finger. I'm pretty sure that's not the right value.

Or take 2 seconds to check and adjust the gap if needed. You can use shims to check more accurately than the round gapper.

What part number did you use?

NGK's come pregapped, and the correct gap is 1.1mm

Hence the part number - ZFR5F-11
                        11 = 1.1mm

                        Convert to metric already . . .

There must be one "0" before the first "4".
My Haynes manual says .039"to .043".
Decal under the hood of my car says 1.0 to 1.1 mm.

1.1 mm is equal to .04331".
1.0 mm is equal to .03937".

Anything below minimum, there may not be enough spark to promote good burn.
Anything above maximum, there may be over taxing the ignition system.

Set it at .041" and you are within the limits.

If your car ran fine when you took the old ones out then check the gap on those and set the new ones to that gap.
