ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

OEM specific. If not directly from the dealer, it would have to be a used set from somebody (or a junkyard)

They're about 64 dollars and change total NEW at the dealer. I had to get some for my Auto to 5spd swap back in 08'

wait a sec, they're probably cheaper than that. When I went to the dealer, I remember I had to buy ALL the clutch related hardware, so its probably half that for just the 17mm 12pt bolts

those are hard to come buy at the junkyard because you would have to remove the transmission to get to them.. when i did my 5 speed swap years i ago i had this same dilemma and tried to get it at the junkyard but it was way to much work for those bolts.. i just bought them at the dealer if i recall i spent like 40 bucks on all the bolts

Same, I had to get mine at the pick and pull. They were free after getting the tranny off, the only problem was the 5spd accords were as rare as a unicorn at the place I went to.

What is so special about those flywheel bolts that you can't just buy ones that are the same length, grade, and thread pitch?

from my understanding they are to be torqued down to a certain specification and if you get a bolt that can't handle the beating these bolts can take then you'd really f**k yourself over if they backed out or broke, etc.

I'd say go to the dealership and get the bolts your looking for. Yes they are a little pricey ($5+ a bolt) BUT it's worth it, imo. Some go to the junk yard and get them but you'd spend a lot of time just trying to drop the trans to get to them and there's no guarantee they will be in good condition or you mess them up trying to take them off as well

I'm not arguing your point since i understand there are a lot of different types of bolts (like torque to yield), but i install a lot of aftermarket clutch kits for Cummins engines that just come with grade 10.9 and are rated up to 800hp and 1500ft lbs. at the wheels. You'd just think there would be a good piece of hardware to use that didn't cost 5 dollars a piece lol

Autozone has bolts that will work. I don't know how good they are, or if they'll cause problems... but I have one holding my flywheel on now (my friend broke one off when we changed the flywheel, so I hastily bought the first thing I could find that would fit.)

I used whatever Autozone has hanging on their little bolt racks... so probably crap. It's only one bolt, and I only expect it to be on there for a short time (it's an XTD flywheel, paired with an XTD Stage 1 clutch... so that's all garbage anyway...) Hopefully it won't throw off the weight balance, or snap and cause major damage. I was willing to take the risk with one bolt... but I'm not sure if I'd do it with all of them. At least the weight distribution would be even if they were all Autozone bolts, though.

Was it made for flywheels? If not it might not like being tightened down to however tight they need to be and hopefully it is strong enough to come out with braking off in your crank. The stock bolts are super hard and one still broke so I am not sure if I would trust it.
Was it a 6 or 12 point head bolt ?
I wish you luck when you need to take it out. I would be prepared with a easy out tho.
