ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

method to put timing belt on!

I need help with getting my timing belt on, this is the last thing i need on for my prelude to be ready to start. and it is the f22. And im having a hell of a time getting the timing belt on! help ?!

    Do it in sequence.

BEFORE you do that though..MAKE SURE the engine is perfectly timed. If you don't you run the risk of possibly bending valves.

Once you do that, install the timing belt tensioner pulley and bolt it to the block where it has the hole on the edge of it.

1 - Install it on the cog of the crankshaft and then 2 run it over the timing belt pulley and then 3 over the water pump and then 4 over the cam gear.

Turn the motor over three times by hand, this tensions the belt and frees up slack on the exhaust side.

The reason you do it in sequence is that you want the front side of the belt (exhaust side) to be tight and the intake side should be loose.

the problem is, is that the timing belt is on inside the crank pulley, so i was looking for a method to stop me from having to take the crank pulley off and get the belt on.

        lol what?

dude it sounds like you REALLLYYYY need to follow a guide for this... the alignment and tension of this belt is one of the most critical things on the engine, and it needs to be done very specifically...

Apparently you do need the guide, because you are asking us for help.

Get the crank pulley off, its the first step in this process.

There's no real easy way to get around the crank pulley. It's going to have to come off.

this is the critical point of any honda trust me i just lost my 93 over this shit . i had my time belt replaced just 5 years ago.. and it broke on me while driveing so i pretty much know the engine will not be the same.. so im stripping my 93 and getting another cb7.. but my point is dude if you are unsure about putting the belt on your lude. take it to a professinal and please do buy the best belt there is see mine was a 20 dollar autozone. and look at it now..

At least you paid for it unlike some dishonest members around here

Anyways theres no way to do it without removing the crank pully

You clearly do need a guide if you don't understand that is a very important step to get to the timing belt.

I don't see why you are complaining, it lasted 5 years just fine, mileage is also a factor. I had a Honda belt fail on me, but that was my fault.

Slap another belt on, you might get lucky. I did, and mine runs the best it ever has.

My electric impact wouldn't do it! It's only 230ft lbs though. Just rent a puller from your local autoparts store.
