ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Broken Flexplate in a perfect circle around crankschaft

So i dropped my tranny and the flexplate was broken. Any ideas as to why ? it broke in a perfect circle around the crankshaft. Do i need to worry about it happening again once i replace it?

Wow, that's something I've never seen. I'm sure it doesn't happen very often. Another used one should be fine.

Hey guys. So I went to the autostores and they only sell the flywheel for a manual CB. Is this flexplate something I need to get out of the junkyard? I'd rather buy it new but through the dealer will probably cost an arm and a leg. Any suggestions?

more than likely since it is rarely heard of being needed to be replaced. If i still had mine sitting after my swap, i'd mail it to you if you covered the cost of shipping but alas, i think i recycled it.

just inspect it, if you dont beat on it it wont break
i've seen this a lot on h22/auto swaps

Ok guys went and got myself a flexplate for 15bucks at an auto salvage. I installed it and before putting the tranny back up i started to question why this had happened due to the way the flexplate broke. So i decided to put the converter in the tranny and turn it by hand. Took a while for it to drop in place all the way. But once it was in the tranny did turn but only the converter turned and if i look in where the axles go there was no movement in the gears. Also when the converter turns it is not smooth . there is a grumble when it turns. Could the tranny have locked up wich in turn caused the flexplate to twist right off the crankshaft. here is a link to youtube so you can see how the flexplate broke. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G9O8CVuuyWg

Wish I could offer you more, but I'd say something is broken.
What was the background noise in the first vid?

the backround noise is just the flexplate clanging against metal i replaced that part already thats fixed. The tranny is my main concern now
