ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Changed ash tray light and car died...

OK, could this be possibly the reason or is it just coincidence? I changed my burned out ash tray light on my 92 Accord EX coupe and I started it, drove around the corner and it just quit. Tried to restart, it tries but will not turn over. Everyone says the bulb is a 74 but it was too big to fit so I put a 73 in it which fit perfectly and lit perfectly. The battery was replaced last fall, I am having it and the alternator tested right now. It was driving awesome before this happened. This is crazy, surely it was not the 73 bulb...someone reassure me please.

If I were you, I'd hope it was the bulb. Because if it isn't, then you have something else wrong!
I think if the it was the bulb you would just blow a fuse.

30.0 MPG, AC on, aggressively driving around 90.

I was thinking the same thing that the fuse would blow. I know it sounds funny but I almost hope it is not the bulb because then I would feel unbelievably stupid for doing that. I am going to drive my car a long time more and I don't mind paying to get things fixed on it or fixing things myself, comes with the territory on a car this old and it is far less expensive than buying a new car. Thanks for the reply.

Then you better hope it was not the timing belt that's worse i don't think it's the bulb because I have bigger bulbs on my ashtray and floor shifter light so it's most likey not the problem with the bulb good luck

It wouldn't cause your car to stop like that. Does it crank over? Did you check for spark/fuel? Also check your starter. If your starter is good and it doesent turn the engine over then your motor is locked up.. This happened to my black coupe it died and when trying to start it it will just click click and the oil dipstick was wrapped around the crank = [

does the engine crank when you attempt to start it?

            if so...:

check to see that you are getting fuel

crank over the motor and pull a spark plug out and smell it, you should smell gas

check to see that you are getting spark

take that same spark plug you just smelled, hook it up to the wire and ground it out to something (the motor). have someone crank the engine, look for spark (easiest in dark)

            check for compression

rent/buy etc a compression gauge if you have terribly low numbers or a 0, then chances are you broke your timing belt and bent your valves, as this is an interference engine, the valves intefere with the pistons when they are not moving in unison, therefore bending a valve usually. ( I guess it could punch holes in the pistons?)

as for the dipstick around the crank; HOW? lol damn that would suck
