ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    oil leak driving me crazy

I have a 1993 ex with a serious leak. i thought it was the oil filter seal(because an oil change was a bit over due). but i just changed it and its still leaking. the oil is hitting the exhaust pipe right where the collector is.
Its not the oil pan, valve cover or head gasket. there is i think a drail plug right under the filter. could that have something to do with it? Need help!!!

I am the same i changed valve cover gasket, tube seals lower and upper. So i am going to go under see what i can find.

Wash the engine around the leak. That will show you very clearly where it's coming from.

The oil pressure sending unit is near the filter, I believe. That may be a source of a leak.

would the sending unit have the switch inside of it? because i think thats what it is. its located right above the oil filter and would look as if the oil filter is leaking. but when i called advance, they only have the switch.

Yeah, I believe people refer to it as the oil pressure switch as well. It's the only thing with wires attached sticking out of the block near the filter.

Maybe cam seal because my leak sounds similar it was draining from the top to the bottom down by the oil filter I changed all my seals and come to found out that what it was.

If it IS the cam seal, that could be bad. That could result in oil on the timing belt, which would increase the risk of the belt snapping.

Yea with mine I had the upper cover off my car and oil got on my timming belt and my power stearing belt caused it slip off under tension and messed up my harmonic balancer when it came off.

i don't think its the cam seal. i just replaced the timing belt and balance... plus i removed the top timing cover off so i can inspect the belt when ever i open the hood and it has no oil on it. i just got the new oil sender switch and its alot smaller than the oem switch. i can even get the old one off. its huge!! anyone know the size?

I think there's a bolt under the oil filter for draining the cooling system.

Is it coming from the plug directly below the oil filter? That is where it was leaking on my car.

It is a large hex key bolt, just pull it out, clean it with brake cleaner or any anti-oil product, and put some lock tight on the threads. It won't leak again

Yes, you can purchase it from Autozone or whatever your local auto parts store is. You add it to the oil and use a UV (black) light and it glows like Predator blood They also have it for the cooling system. It is the fastest way to find a leak! You can also get a kit that has UV glasses and a bendable UV light for around $30
