ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    speedo out, CEL on

ok, so as I was driving home from work tonight by honda had a problem develop, in this order:

hard pop with a slight jolt to the left
    sport light began flashing
    speedometer bottomed out
    CEL turned on

Im going to jump the service plug tomorrow, but in the mean time, anyone have any ideas?

    #2
Until you jump the plug, we'll have no concrete evidence. So, I'll start guessing:

    1. BIGASS misfire
    2. Unexpected power caused the trans to blow
    3. Blown trans also broke the VSS
    4. ECU is warning you.

But in all seriousness, it sounds like you've got a decent problem. I'll check back tomorrow.

it still drives like normal. no power loss, no odd shifts. It's just flipping out... aside from the hop.

Maybe you hit a pothole and didnt see it or know.

2 I bet your VSS either unplgged or broke from the jolt. Your CEL is due to the VSS so I think you will see Code 16 or 17

the CEL didn't turn on till about a minute after the jolt. but the speedo did bottom out right after. it still works, but goes out. I'm just glad I have a speedo app on my android, the highway I was on is cop INFESTED.

x2 on the pothole. That, or somehow an axle is disconnected.
But I think if it were the axle you'd still feel something.

Well this is gonna get me to sleep tonight, if it IS anything serious there's no way I'd be able to afford repairs.

Interesting side note, my last car (93 caravan C/V) did something alarming similar to this when a spider gear broke, except it was instantly immobile. Most epic fail ever though, one tire spun forward and the other spun in reverse. Very interesting to watch the reactions from guys at tranny shops.

While in gear, the left tire was as if it was in gear, and the right was in reverse. So it was trying to do the most ghetto doughnut ever.

That's normal with a non LSD trans. But only if one tire is stuck. Just driving like that is not normal.
