ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

    swapping transmission

As i'm swapping my engine, is it a good idea to go through the trouble of converting my car to 5spd?
My current auto tranny is pretty much shot...it works, but it's got a huge hole in the bottom of it, and it leaks fluid everywhere. i'm constantly having to refill it.
ultimately, i want more performance from my car, so is it a better idea to get a new automatic tranny? or to convert to stick for the hell of it?

That completely up to you. Take into account all the factors, like the extra work involved in wiring a 5 speed. A huge factor: whichever one you can get for cheaper. Unless you have lots o cash

Have you tried JB welding material over the hole?

Don't know. I'm in the same boat as you.
Although: from the manuals I have driven, they feel much faster then the automatics.

Auto will hold you back if you want more performance down the road, however if you are getting a complete swap package from a Prelude (H23A1 + auto trans) then go for it. Or another good condition F22 auto is acceptable and will live behind the H23 just fine.

when mine was auto i raced a 5 speed and had less than stock exhaust and we were the same. its just funner to drive a 5 speed. if you want a 5 speed go ahead and swap it. however it takes 2 weeks to a month to get esp to make the mount and ship it its woth it to do it. i mean if your swaping your engine, and you want to to the 5 speed swap everything bolts up just the same. its just the wiring thats tricky. other than that its really just a matter of pulling the tranz out and putting the manual stuff in.
