ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Car won't start after running fine.

So my car will not start up. I was driving home last night and it was running great. Got home then 30 min later I tried starting it to run to the store. SURPRISE...car not start. Great. It's done this in the past but I thought I fixed it with a new battery, spark plugs, and distributor cap. But I guess not. Now I need some help figuring what it is now. My plug wires look in good shape so I don't think it's that. Alternator? Distributor? Idk. Need help guys. Thanks.

sometimes if your car dies on you or dont start the air filter is clogged or restricted or exhast pipe is. if not that you might have some sort of an expensive problem try askin a local repair place some of them dont charge cause there cool and local people are just like that anyways

or distributer might be burnt and its not getting a good connection, or you might need a new gas cap, caused by vapor lock. undo his gas cap then take it off and put it back on. or spark plug wires are no good, but try the other one and the gas cap one.

I checked online to see what I'm looking for. It said if any of the solders are cracked it's no good. I dont see any cracks but it does have some brown residue type lookin stuff on it. Could that be it.

Pull your valve cover off and check your timing belt. Or pull your distributor cap off and turn the motor over to see if the rotor spins. Timing belts are more prone to breaking during starts and stops.

If the belt is not broke, check to see if you are getting spark (remove plug, ground, turn motor over). If no spark, you have an ignition problem. Coil or distributor / ignition control module.

If you get spark, check to see if you are getting fuel. Listen for fuel pump priming when ignition is turned on. If you hear the pump, check to see if you are getting pressure at the rail.

It can only be a fuel or spark problem if the air flow is not obstructed. You just need to narrow it down to one or the other and work from there.

I think pulling the valve cover is a little bit extreme. If you suspect a timing belt I'd pull the distributor cap and see if the rotor is spinning.

Its not a dumb move, cause you have confirmed that it is not the problem and have not spent any unnecessary money. It is just a better strategy to narrow down your problem first by performing simple tests before throwing parts at it

Try to hear if your hear if your fuel pump kicks in on Key ON, car off position.
Next check for spark at the spark plug. If that clears out, check timing and possibly could be bad grounds.
