ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

Rent a ball joint press from autozone. It's free. And hit the gym because it takes some muscle to get them out of our old rusted knuckles.

There are videos showing how to replace the ball joints in the read here first section. Broken ball joint removal is one of them.

is it the top or bottom ball joint? for the top its easiest to replace the whole upper control arm. for the bottom, in my experience a hammer usually does the trick.

My last set of lower b/j's I put in w/ a 2lb drilling hammer. If you don't use a beater plate, it beats up the b/j alittle, but it will work. Also heating the knuckle up w/ allow for a slightly looser fit during install.

For installation I used a ball peen hammer. Seriously, go watch those videos. Tells you EXACTLY what to do.

If u go the autozone route you'll probably have to get the adapter set also, cause the cups and shit wont fit unless u do, thats why ppl are smashing them back in instead of using the press. Use old 13/16 deep socket to pound it out with a 3lb hammer after u remove the snap ring overwise you'll be pounding all day. Clean it up, get some multi purpose lube and use a breaker bar with your press adapter set and she'll go in smooth and straight and wont fuck the back of your bj up or go in crooked.
                Adapter set

You don't NEED that! Trust me, the only "specialty" tool you'll need is snap ring priers.
Getting the ball joint out was the hardest part. After that, it took maybe 2 minutes of pounding before it seated completely.

For removal "the right way" I'd go to harbor freight. They sell a tool (can't remember the name) that removes the ball joints with ease! And it's NOT a pickle fork. Don't ever use those.

IMO getting suspension parts from a junkyard is like buying used oil. Unless it's just a metal part, like a control arm.

Lastly; Get your ball joints from the Honda dealership. Always replace in pairs.

                    Why from the dealership?....

The tool you need is a ball joint press. I rented mine from oriellys for 100 bucks but you get every penny back if you return it within two days. Makes the job really easy with the right tools. As for ball joints just hammer them back in with a hammer and a flat piece of 2x4. Best way to press out the ball joint is to take the entire arm out and put it in a vice when using the press.
