Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

    Passenger side axel problems.. Gone through one in a week

    Whats up guys. When I first got my 90 ex i had a bad cv joint on the right side. Last saturday I bought the part (NEW, not reman) axel for the passenger side, and had my mechanic install it. I pulled out of a parking spot and... click click click... the same axel is clicking again. This time much worse.

    How could I destroy a cv axel in 6 days? And if it is a defective part, how could I make sure I dont get another deffective one? I have to pay $70 labor on this each time I install and its getting annoying.. Is there any brand or autoparts store that sells them that are better and not known to break? Mine was brand new and from advance auto parts. It was the GSP brand.

    Best guess: The boot was torn or it wasn't put in properly.
    MRT
    37.5 MPG, AC on, cruising at 80.
    30.0 MPG, AC on, aggressively driving around 90.
    27.5 MPG, no AC, cruising at 90 with occasional gridlock. 40 degrees Fahrenheit

      If you paid someone to put it in hopefully you paid them for the part as well and didn't buy your own "cheaper" part. If you paid the shop for everything take it back and say what the hell if they are a decent shop they will warranty it. If you only paid labor and bought your own part you'll have to prove that they screwed up the install for them to do anything.

      They could of tore the boot when installing the new axle if they tried to squeeze it through stuff instead of tearing it all apart.

          yea sounds like they fucked something up, i too had to replace the same axle and did it my self, so far its been two weeks and no problem at all

            Well now I know what the problem is. That brand new axel I got from advance auto parts had NO GREASE in the cv boot. I figured the axel was done anyway so I sliced open the boot and it was bone dry. Looks like when they manufactured it they never put grease in it... Nice, now i have to do it all over again. Im pissed

                Axle, not axel.

                If the boot had no grease in it, it was not a brand new part. Most likely a remanufactured axle, and Advance Auto has a reputation for giving REALLY crappy remanufactured axles. NAPA remans are much more reliable from my experience... though nothing beats brand new OEM.

                  Ok thanks man. And it was actually a brand new axle, not a reman. Luckily it has a lifetime warranty so Im just going to see if I can bring the damn thing back and get my money back... i dont want another lol.

                      Yeah I should have gone with my gut instinct and bought it from Napa in the first place, but I guess you live and you learn. This will be the last time I ever buy something thats over $20 from them lol.

                      And yup, i just got a 90 ex 5 speed sedan in december as a winter car. Once the spring hits im going to fix her up a bit. she needs paint and some rust repair. Its an awesome car, i love it. I was syched to find an ex sedan that was 5 speed

                        dude if this is the case go complain to advance about this fact, there has to be something they can do for you since it was their mess...or lack there-of lol

                        i got me some Fidenza axles from Kragen/O'Riley they are wonderful
